San Francisco 49ers Offensive Struggles Makes Team a Fantasy Black Hole

After putting up a lone field goal in a 17-3 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, the San Francisco 49ers have tallied 10 points over the past two games. This performance also brings the team's two-game yardage total to 353. This came on the heels of San Francisco tallying over 800 total yards in its first two games.

Yeah, it's been ugly.

Due to a combination of break downs at every level of the 49ers' offense, there is not a single player on that unit worthy of starting in year-long or weekly leagues moving forward.

When Colin Kaepernick has been given time, he's been a disaster as it relates to accuracy. Though, those times have been few and far between over the past two games. In fact, Kaepernick has been sacked eight times and hit 13 times over the past two games. On Sunday alone, the struggling quarterback simply didn't have the time to find receivers down the field.

Torrey Smith caught two of the five passes thrown in his direction for 54 yards. Meanwhile, Anquan Boldin caught a total of three passes for 12 yards on seven targets. That's San Francisco's two starting receivers combining for five receptions on 12 targets.

With Vernon Davis out due to a knee injury, Vance McDonald struggled big time. A player that's darn close to becoming a bust, McDonald also dropped two of the three passes thrown in his direction.

On the ground, and with his team playing from behind, Carlos Hyde couldn't find any real rushing lanes against Green Bay. He went for 20 yards on eight attempts, including a total of three attempts in the second half.

That's the biggest issue here. Hyde was the only 49ers' player worthy of being considered a starting option in fantasy football. Playing from behind on a consistent basis is not a good sign for anyone expecting starter-caliber numbers from a running back. As it relates to Hyde, he's put up a total of 36 rush attempts during the team's three-game losing streak.

In terms of the other starters on San Francisco's offense, no one is worthy of a mention until the coaching staff figures out what's gone wrong and fixes it. That will likely be much later down the road. Simply put, there aren't any quick fixes here.
