San Francisco 49ers Place Carlos Hyde on Injured Reserve

The San Francisco 49ers season has not gone as they would have hoped. The season started off right with a win as running back Carlos Hyde rushed for 168 yards. But things went down hill as Hyde suffered a foot injury and has been kept off the field since October 22. Now with just a few weeks remaining in the season, San Francisco has placed Hyde on injured reserve.

The 24-year-old Hyde showed flashes in his second season and first as the 49ers' starting running back. Despite teams often stacking the box against him due to a poor passing game, Hyde finished with 410 passing yards, he averaged 4.1 yards per carry this season.

While the exact severity of Hyde's foot injury was never known, it was reported he had a stress fracture, he played through the injury early before the 49ers decided to play it safe. After alternating running backs, San Francisco found Shaun Draughn, who has stepped in quite nicely in Hyde's place.

In his past four games, Draughn has 184 rushing yards and 163 receiving yards, showing off his ability to serve multiple roles in the offense. Draughn's consistent production has helped make him a fantasy RB2 in the final half of the season and has earned him a roster spot with the 49ers next year.
