Seahawks' Chris Carson Joins Elite Rookie Running Back Group

You have already likely made your waiver-wire claims for Week 3. But in case you haven't, it's definitely time to take a look at Seattle Seahawks rookie seventh-round pick Chris Carson, who has pretty much taken over the team's primary ball carrier duties.

Last week against the San Francisco 49ers, the rookie from Oklahoma State put up 100 total yards on 21 targets. No other Seahawks running back touched the ball more than five times and he saw more snaps than the rest of the players at this position combined.

Considering Eddie Lacy was a healthy scratch and assumed starter Thomas Rawls continues to deal with injuries, Carson has to be looked at as a potential RB2 option moving forward this season.

More than that, Seattle is hellbent on getting the running game going now that its offensive line has proved to be an utter failure in pass protection in front of Russell Wilson. Through two games, Seattle has attempted 66 passes compared to 55 rushes.

It's a much better run-pass split than we saw last season, and head coach Pete Carroll made sure to point out that this was an emphasis for the team during the offseason. If Carson continues to consistently get 20-plus touches per game, his ceiling is as a RB1 option moving forward on the season. Meanwhile, both Rawls and Lacy are sure drops in the fake football world.
