Seahawks Don't Expect Thomas Rawls to Play in the Preseason

The Seattle Seahawks might have been on to something when they decided to select three running backs in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Knowing that Marshawn Lynch had retired put Seattle in a position to have to add more talent to the thinning depth at this position. Now couple that with a serious leg injury suffered by surprise rookie performer Thomas Rawls last season, and the need was magnified even further.

Now comes this report ESPN suggesting that Rawls will not playing during the preseason due to the fractured ankle he suffered late last year.

This is a pretty damning piece of information for Seattle.

Rawls, 22, recorded over 900 total yards of offense while averaging a league-leading 5.6 yards per attempts as an un-drafted free agent last season.

With him now questionable to go for the start of the season, rookie third-round pick C.J. Prosise may in fact be given an opportunity to earn the starting gig in training camp. We covered Prosise in an extensive article last month. He's among the highest upside dynasty running back options from the 2016 NFL Draft. Though, this piece of information ups the stock of the Notre Dame product from a re-draft standpoint.

It's definitely going to be interesting to see what happens in Seattle. Though, we wouldn't be too surprised to see the team add a veteran like Arian Foster in free agency. Short of that happening, look for Prosise to be given extensive looks during the summer.
