Fresh off losing rookie running back Thomas Rawls for the season with a fractured ankle, the Seattle Seahawks indicated on Sunday that they have no timetable for a Marshawn Lynch return.
The veteran running back has missed each of the past four games with an abdomen injury. In fact, Lynch has only seen substantial action in five of the team's 13 games this season.
Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll had this to say about the running back's status on Sunday:
“We’ll see how Marshawn does. He was back in rehabbing with us (this week). We’ll see where he is. He’s got a chance to get back. It’s all about getting back in shape and getting right. I don’t know what the timetable is at this point. Our trainers can’t tell yet. But that will be the next thing we will look to see how that works out.’’
With Rawls and Lynch both sidelined, the primary ball-carrier responsibilities will be left to a player in DuJuan Harris who had attempted a total of three runs prior to replacing Rawls in the backfield in Sunday's blowout win over the Baltimore Ravens.
Seattle did bring back veteran journeyman Bryce Brown on Monday. Though, that's likely as nothing more than a precaution. He will be the team's No. 3 running back behind Harris and Fred Jackson.
It will, however, be interesting to see if Lynch gets back on the field this season. With Seattle's passing offense currently playing at an elite level, a healthy Lynch would make this team unstoppable.
From a fantasy perspective, Harris might be worth a waiver-wire pickup. Though, the biggest thing to come out of this is likely continued fantasy relevance from Seattle's passing game with Wilson, Tyler Lockett and Doug Baldwin potentially set to continue putting up big numbers.
