He doesn't have the name recognition of a Darrelle Revis or Brandon Browner but recently signed New England Patriots cornerback Tarell Brown does have previous success on a Super Bowl team. That's something those now apparently behind Brown on the depth chart can't say.
That could also be one of the reasons that the Patriots are prepared to hand Brown the starting job over fellow free-agent signing Bradley Fletcher.
Brown will likely open the season as the starter opposite Super Bowl hero Malcolm Butler. The two will be tasked with replacing an elite tandem in Revis and Browner, who were two of the primary reasons New England hoisted the Lombardi last season. Fletcher will likely be the first corner off the pine.
After seven somewhat productive seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, Brown signed with the Oakland Raiders last year. He started 14 games, recording 55 tackles and four passes defended without an interception. Opposing quarterbacks put up a 91.7 quarterback rating when targeting Brown last season.
