Texans Confirm that Arian Foster Tore His Achilles, Lost for the Season

The bad breaks just seem to be piling up for Houston Texans running back Arian Foster, who missed the first three games of the season after suffering a tear in his groin during the exhibition slate.

In his fourth game back after returning from said injury, Foster suffered a torn Achilles and is out for the season, Texans head coach Bill O'Brien confirmed on Monday

At 29 years old and with a laundry list of injury issues, Foster may very well have played his final game in a Texans uniform. He's set to count $9.3 million against the cap with a dead cap hit of just $2.5 million in 2016.

One of the best running backs of the modern era when actually on the field, it remains to be seen whether this is it for Foster. He will likely attempt a comeback with another team next season, but these injuries have to be taking a toll on his body. At what point does he preserve his long-term health by giving up the game?

The expectation moving forward this season for Houston has to be that Alfred Blue will take over the primary ball-carrier duties. While he split time with Chris Polk when Foster was down earlier, the Texans need to see what they have in the second-year running back with Foster unlikely to be in their long-term plans.
