Coming into the start of the season many people could not have predicted that this would be one of the marque matchups of the week. However, two weeks in and these are a couple of the hottest teams in the NFL. Even though the Eagles lost last week, they still showed off their high-powered offense and no body could have guessed that the Chiefs would be undefeated and sporting one of the best defenses in the league. This is going to be an interesting matchup with Andy Reid coming back to the city of brotherly love. Will he be welcomed back with open arms or a swift kick in the rear? Let's take a look at the matchup.
Slow and Steady Wins the Race
The Chiefs are 2-0 with one of the strongest defenses in the league. They are methodical in their approach and have had excellent game plans so far this season. They work the clock and trust Alex Smith to move the chains with help from Dwayne Bowe and Jamaal Charles.
Charles has not looked overwhelming in the backfield in the first two games. He was even outrushed last week by Smith against the Cowboys. Look for the Chiefs to ride Charles this game and I can see him breaking off a couple long ones. The real matchup for the Chiefs is going to be on the defensive side of the ball. Can Brandon Flowers and the rest of the Chiefs secondary contain the high-powered Eagle's offense and will Michael Vick feel the pressure of Dontari Poe
Fly Like an Eagle
Chip Kelly has not disappointed in Philly so far this season. Sporting one of the most potent offenses in the league and running an up-tempo pace that keeps teams unbalanced, this is not the Eagles of 2012. Michael Vick has been on his game and LeSean McCoy is in the race for top running back this year. Not to mention, DeSean Jackson has gotten over 100 yards and a touchdown in both games so far this season. Look for the Eagles to continue their hot streak right away, but can they sustain the pressure upfront from the Chiefs?
This is going to be a highflying game for both teams. The Eagles have one of the best offenses but also a very suspect defense. It will be a shootout in Philly with the team winning that makes the fewest mistakes. Vick is historically known for making a few boneheaded mistakes and I would not be surprised to see him throw a couple of interception tonight.
Bye Bye Big Red
Andy Reid knows this stadium very well but he no longer knows this Eagle's team. Look for the Chiefs to keep the game close but I see the speed of the Eagle's play being too much for the methodical Chiefs.
I predict the Eagles to win by a score of 31 - 28.
