Todd Gurley Not Listed on Rams Injury Report

For the first time since tearing his ACL as a member of the Georgia Bulldogs last season, rookie St. Louis Rams running back Todd Gurley looks to have received a clean bill of health.

The team's first-round pick back in May did not appear on the Rams injury report on Wednesday, which means that he should be able to go against the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend.

For his part, Gurley seems confident that he's ready to go:

"It’s definitely getting there," Gurley said. "I know as far as my recovery from being tired, I definitely feel a lot better. I feel like I’ve been doing a great job of that. And getting those reps, it’s helping me a lot."

With Gurley sidelined for the first two games of the season, Benny Cunningham has received the majority of the Rams' carries. He's averaging 2.5 yards on 17 attempts. Interestingly, wide receiver Tavon Austin ranks second in attempts with eight.

While the Rams would like to ease Gurley back into the lineup, they might have to throw more carries his way than originally anticipated. After all, their running backs are averaging just over three yards per attempt.

From a fantasy perspective, you have to take the wait-and-see approach. There's no logical reason to rely on Gurley, especially without knowing how the Rams plan to use him early on. Give it a week or two, and then go from there.
