New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and the NFL Players Association have won their appeal of the four-game suspension the league handed down to the quarterback stemming from his alleged role in Deflategate.
Judge Richard M. Berman of Federal District Court in Manhattan had this to say in handing down the ruling Thursday morning:
"The court finds that Brady had no notice that he could receive a four-game suspension for general awareness of ball deflation by others or participation in any scheme to deflate footballs, and noncooperation with the ensuing investigation.’’
Of course, the NFL has indicated it will appeal Berman's ruling.
Unless the league can get an appeals court to issue an emergency injunction, Brady will play in the Patriots season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday.
