As expected, the Dallas Cowboys have placed starting quarterback Tony Romo on short-term injured reserve after he suffered a broken left collarbone against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
The short-term IR designation indicates that Romo will be eligible to return when the Cowboys take on the Miami Dolphins in Week 11.
With Romo out of action, the Cowboys will be relying on backup Brandon Weeden to get the job done for the next seven games. At 2-0 on the season, there is some breathing room here. However, losing your team MVP won't come without some sort of regression.
Now that Romo is on injured reserve, a spot has opened up on the Cowboys 53-man roster. They worked out Christian Ponder and Josh Johnson, among other veteran signal callers on Monday. It's likely Dallas will add another signal caller at some point this week.
