Top-10 Fantasy Football Sleepers for the Second Half of the Season

This will be a list of the top 10 sleepers for fantasy football pertaining to the second half of the season.  These guys are either returning from injury or will get a chance to step up because of another players injury.  Some guys are good players that have just been terrible or irrelevant through the first few weeks of the season.  It was pretty hard for me to rank them so I pretty much went with my gut so bare with me friends.  I decided on ranking them by skill and opportunity but most of all how known they are in the eyes of the common fan.  The top guys on the list are not well known and will get some opportunities to make plays.

10. Riley Cooper, Receiver, Philadelphia Eagles

Cooper is not the best receiver in the world but he has one of the best opportunities to get fantasy owners points.  For one he plays in the high flying, point scoring offense that just went crazy on the Oakland Raiders.  Cooper seems to be one of Nick Foles favorite targets and with him probably starting the rest of the season look for Cooper to become more and more productive.

9. Darrius Heyward-Bey, Receiver, Indianapolis Colts

Heyward-Bey hasn’t lived up to expectations as a top draft pick for the Raiders back in 2009 and even here with the Colts he has been unproductive.  But the team needs him to step up and make plays with the injury to Reggie Wayne.  Heyward-Bey is talented and now he has the opportunity to finally step up and prove that he can be a starting receiver in this league.  Hopefully we'll see him make some plays and score some touchdowns.

8. Seneca Wallace, Quarterback, Green Bay Packers

Aaron Rodgers will be out for a while with that collarbone injury but Wallace is a really good backup quarterback.  I’ve seen him come in and play well for several teams throughout the years and he has a lot of respect from players and fans.  The Packers also have plenty weapons at running back and receiver for Wallace to be successful in the starting role.

7. John Carlson, Vikings,Tight End, Minnesota Vikings

Carlson will step into the starting role with Kyle Rudolph out with a foot injury.  Carlson looked really good against the Washington Redskins and the tight end position looks to be un guardable in today’s NFL.  Carlson had 98 yards and a touchdown against the Redskins and Rudolph had decent numbers before he was injured.  I expect Carlson to put up decent numbers while Rudolph is out.

6. Eli Manning, Quarterback, New York Giants

Manning was a player a lot of people thought would do well the whole season, but we all know how the first half of the season turned out for him.  But the Giants have won their last two games and Manning has looked a little better.  In the last half of the season they have a lot of division games two against the Redskins atrocious defense so the path is paved for him to put up some solid numbers.

5. James Jones, Receiver, Green Bay Packers

If you let him go try to pick him back up and if you still have him good for you.  Jones has been injured for most of the season and hasn’t done much while not at 100%.  But he played a couple snaps last week and looks to be on a path to good health.  When he is finally back to full help look for him to move back into the starting role and help the Packers get to the playoffs.

4. Case Keenum, Quarterback,  Houston Texans

Keenum started off as the third string quarterback in Houston but has impressed in the couple games where he started for injured Matt Schaub.  Right now he’s averaging 310 yards a game and has yet to thrown an interception.  Also with weapons on offense like Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins he won’t have a problem moving the ball.  He won’t keep this pace up but I think he’ll be a decent pick up for the rest of the year.

3. Lance Moore, Receiver, New Orleans Saints

One of the Saints receivers not named Kenny Stills has to do something this year.  Stills is locked in as the deep ball guy but none of the receivers have done well in terms of receptions.  I’ve lost all hope in Marques Colston and with him hurt that makes Moore the top guy at the position.  Coming back from a hand injury I counting on him to get back in the swing of things this week and keep putting up points for the rest of the year.

2. Jarrett Boykin, Receiver, Green Bay Packers

Boykin has played well over the last four games for a guy that nobody really knows.  In the last game against the Chicago Bears he played 49 snaps and he’s had some pretty big games as well.  He’s up and down but he will get a lot of opportunities in this offense as they will probably still have a pass first mentality.  Watch for this young receiver to make some noise down the stretch.

1. Andre Brown, Giants Running Back, New York Giants

Brown was supposed to be the Giants starting running back for the Giants this season but was injured in the preseason.  He will probably get his owners at least 10 points a couple times down the stretch for a couple reasons.  For one the Giants are so thin at running back I don’t even want to joke about it.  With injuries to David Wilson and Brandon Jacobs Brown will have to split carries with Peyton Hillis for maybe a week but will have the full load soon.
