1. Seattle Seahawks
This one is pretty plain and simple. In two home games this season, the Seahawks have only allowed 21 points to the San Francisco 49ers in which they picked up 22 fantasy points, and in the other game, they only gave the Jaguars 12 points. With the 12th man on their side, the Seahawks’ defense is unstoppable, especially against the Ryan Fitzpatrick-led Tennessee Titans.
Projected Statistics: 18 points allowed, three sacks, two interceptions, one fumble recovery, one touchdown
2. Kansas City Chiefs
Were it not for Seattle, Kansas City would be the best defense this season. The Chiefs have the fourth best pass defense and have forced 15 turnovers, the most in the AFC. Partner that with the Oakland Raiders, who have six giveaways and are 21st in the NFL in passing offense, and you’ve got yourself a good matchup. The Chiefs are coming off a 16-point fantasy performance against the Tennessee Titans and could get near that point total again in Week 6.
Projected Statistics: Seven points allowed, four sacks, two interceptions
3. Denver Broncos
At this point in the season, any team playing against the Jacksonville Jaguars has a chance to be a top three defense that week. Jacksonville is the worst offense in the league, and have turned the ball over 11 times. At home this year, Denver has allowed 27, 23 and 20 points in three different games, but the Jaguars just don’t have the offense to be throwing to keep up with Peyton Manning.
Projected Statistics: 14 points allowed, three sacks, three interceptions
4. Cincinnati Bengals
The Chicago Bears would occupy this spot normally, but since this article will be posted after the Thursday night game, the spot falls to the Bengals, who are taking on the Buffalo Bills. The Bills will be starting Thad Lewis at quarterback. Lewis has only started one game in his career with the Cleveland Browns, which was last season. In that game, Lewis threw an interception, and only put up 204 yards and a touchdown. Cincy has the 11th ranked passing defense, recording five interceptions in five games, this is a great matchup for the Bengals.
Projected Statistics: 14 points, two sacks, one interception, one fumble recovery
5. Cleveland Browns
If Calvin Johnson misses the game on Sunday, the Browns could move even further up on this list. Clevelans is only allowing 94.2 yards per game on the ground to opponents, which is a bad sign for Reggie Bush. If Johnson doesn’t play, the Lions offense could revert back to what it was in Week 5 against the Green Bay Packers, when Matthew Stafford was only able to muster 262 yards and a touchdown. Joe Haden is becoming one of the top three corners in the league for the Browns, and their front seven is one of the best run-stoppers.
Projected Statistics: 20 points allowed, four sacks, one interception, one fumble recovery
