In the last week of football this year fantasy players will be competing for the fantasy Super Bowl in some leagues. This year, tight ends have been crucial in fantasy play as their roles in NFL style offense continue to grow. A fantasy team with decent players and a top tight end can spell trouble for opponents. These are some good tight ends that should have a good game in Week 17.
5. Coby Fleener Indianapolis Colts
Fleener and the Colts will face the struggling Jacksonville Jaguars this week and with the division locked up who’s to say how much Fleener and the starters will play. But the Jaguars defense has struggled this year, giving up a lot of yards and points. With Fleener not only being a really good player but also one of Andrew Luck’s favorite targets, he’ll definitely get a lot of chances to touch the ball and score you points.
4. Delanie Walker Tennessee Titans
Walker and the Titans are going up against a struggling Houston Texans squad this week and look to end their season on a high note. The Texans have struggled all year on offense and defense this year and will most likely end the season with only two wins and the number one pick in the upcoming draft. Walker one of the most athletic tight ends in the league always has the potential to have a big game. With his size and ability mixed with that 4.4 speed, he is one of few tight ends that can take a five or 10 yard pass and take it 40 more yards for the touchdown.
3. Vernon Davis San Francisco 49ers
Davis is one of the best tight ends in the league and one of the top targets in San Francisco. He is one of the few tight ends that I would count on to average over 12 fantasy points a game in a season. He like Walker is crazy athletic allowing him to line up at receiver and beat corners as if they were linebackers. He would be number two if he weren’t playing the Arizona Cardinals a team and a defense that I really like and have a lot of confidence in. Davis will get you at least 10 points but the Cardinals will keep him from having a really big day.
2. Greg Olsen Carolina Panthers
I’m going to keep the trend going by picking players who are playing the Falcons defense to have a big game. In week 15 Kirk Cousins lit them up for 381 passing yards and last night on Monday Night Football Colin Kaepernick scored 22 fantasy points with a little help from his running ability. So this week as the Falcons prepare to take on Olsen and the Panthers, it’s safe to say I believe Olsen and Cam Newton can connect on a couple touchdown passes.
1. Jimmy Graham New Orleans Saints
Graham is the best tight end in the league and is having an unbelievable season this year. 81 receptions 15 of which for touchdowns and the only tight end to go over 1000 receiving yards with 1144. Add in the fact that he is a key part in one of the best offenses in the NFL, and the fact that he is quarterback Drew Brees’s favorite target, AND the fact that the Buccaneers aren’t well, good. You have a recipe for another big game for Graham and the Saints crazy good offense.
