1. Dez Bryant, Dallas Cowboys
2013 Statistics: 42 receptions, 569 yards and six touchdowns
Going up against a Detroit Lions defense that is giving up the sixth-most fantasy points to receivers continues a long line of games where Bryant has been projected to be a top-tier fantasy producer. He’s lived up to expectations to a certain extent, but hasn’t necessarily had a string of breakout performances like we saw last season. Through seven weeks, Bryant is on pace for 96 receptions, 1,300 yards and 14 touchdowns. Those are about the same exact numbers he put up last season. Look for another stellar performance with the possibility of raising his fantasy standards again.
Projected Statistics: Eight receptions, 125 yards and two touchdowns
2. Calvin Johnson, Detroit Lions
2013 Statistics: 33 receptions, 492 yards and six touchdowns
Prior to a standout performance last week against the Cincinnati Bengals, Johnson was coming off an injury-plagued two-game stretch that saw him put up a total of just seven receptions and 69 yards. Still hampered a tad by the knee injury, Johnson shouldn’t have much of an issue putting up great numbers against Brandon Carr.
Projected Statistics: Seven receptions, 120 yards and two touchdowns
3. Pierre Garcon, Washington Redskins
2013 Statistics: 40 receptions, 466 yards and two touchdowns
Expect Garcon to be a PPR stud this week against a disastrous Denver Broncos defense that has yielded the third-most fantasy points to receivers this season. Garcon will likely be tasked with going up against Chris Harris, who has struggled against shiftier receivers this season. This is Garcon’s first time in this article all season long, but he matches up extremely well against the Broncos. It’s also important to note that Robert Griffin III will be asked to put the ball up a whole heck of a lot in order to keep up with Peyton Manning and the Broncos high-powered offensive attack. That’s going to give Garcon a lot of targets to work with.
Projected Statistics: 10 receptions, 125 yards and one touchdown
4. Victor Cruz, New York Giants
2013 Statistics: 40 receptions, 591 yards and four touchdowns
Despite Eli Manning's struggles this season, Cruz has had yet another great fantasy season. He’s on pace for 92 receptions, 1,350 yards and nine scores; numbers that are good enough to make him a bottom-tier WR1 through seven weeks. In general, these numbers are also better than what we saw from Cruz in 2012. For the second time in four weeks, Cruz and the Giants go up against a Philadelphia Eagles defense that has given up the most fantasy points to receivers this season.
Projected Statistics: Six receptions, 110 yards and one touchdown
5. Demaryius Thomas, Denver Broncos
2013 Statistics: 41 receptions, 610 yards and five touchdowns
Pick your poison. It’s really been a guessing game when it comes to Broncos’ pass catchers and fantasy football. Where Manning is on pace to put up the best single season for a quarterback in the history of the league, Denver simply has too many receiving options for one to be relied on weekly. Thomas, Wes Welker and Eric Decker are all WR1 options at this point, but they have taken turns making a fantasy impact. With that said, Thomas has the lovely assignment of going up against DeAngelo Hall this week. There is no way in Mike Shanahan’s freckled glare, that Hall has any chance to stop Thomas come Sunday.
Projected Statistics: Five receptions, 95 yards and one touchdown
