In Week 11, there are going to be fantasy matchups that resemble the heavyweight boxing matches of old. This week a lot of really good offensive teams playing some really bad defenses. I have high hopes for some high scores and great performances. With that being said, I will roll out my top-five matchups for Week 11.
5. Marshawn Lynch vs. Adrian Peterson
This has to be the running back matchup of the year with one facing two in the minds of a lot of people. If it was an even playing field, it would be my number one matchup but the Vikings defense just isn’t good and the Seahawks are arguably the best on that side of the ball. Peterson is the most talented back in the league and he’s having a pretty good year even though his team is already looking towards next year. Lynch is also having an outstanding year but his team is on the opposite end of the spectrum as they’re one of the Super Bowl favorites. Lynch will have no problem getting his against a banged up Vikings defense that wasn’t very good to start with. But I think Peterson will still make some big plays against one of the best units in the league. Hopefully we can see these two go back and forth with big plays.
4. Tom Brady vs. Cam Newton
One of the best quarterback in the league will match up against one of the best young guys coming up in the league. Newton, as a dual-threat quarterback, is always capable of racking up tons of fantasy points. Brady, one of the smartest quarterbacks in the league, will have to face the Panthers defense, which is no easy task. The Panthers have only allowed 115 points all season which is second to the Kansas City Chiefs’ 111. The Panthers defense is good but Brady is Brady and I don’t see them keeping him from getting his owners a nice little chunk of points. I will definitely tune in to see Brady face off against one of the younger franchise quarterbacks in the league.
3. Vernon Davis vs. Jimmy Graham
Another one versus two game right here as Graham and Davis probably the two most athletic tight ends in the league square off. Graham, a former basketball player in college, got off to an insanely hot start to the season. He reached double figure fantasy points the first five weeks of the season and had three straight 20-point games from Week 2 to Week 4. He still leads his team in every statistical category and is no doubt Drew Brees primary target. Davis came into the league running a forty time receivers and running backs dream of (4.38). He leads the 49ers with seven touchdown receptions and is one of the best targets in the league. Davis suffered a concussion in his last game and it’s not 100 perecnt that he’ll play this week. I hope he can recover by game time because I really want to see the two best tight ends in this crucial game.
2. LeSean McCoy vs. Alfred Morris
Two of the best young runners in the league will be let loose against some of the worst defenses in the league. McCoy leads the league with 932 yards and is one of the hardest players to get a hand on in the open field. Last time McCoy faced the Redskins in Week 1, he had his biggest performance so far this year. If he can build on that 184 yard performance worth nearly 25 fantasy points we’re in for a show. Morris started off a little slow against the Eagles in Week 1 but has since found his groove and is ranked third in yards behind McCoy and Lynch. What makes Morris so special is how many times you see him 10 yards down field dragging defenders for another five yards. He also is a master of the zone run scheme finding every possible hole. I can’t wait to see these two break big plays this week it will definitely be a must see matchup.
1. Robert Griffin III vs Nick Foles
Again two talented young players find themselves matched up with only two terrible defenses standing in between them and a lot of fantasy points. Foles is probably the hottest quarterback in the league right now. This season, Foles has thrown 16 touchdowns to NO interceptions, including a seven-touchdown performance against Oakland in Week 9. Foles will be going up against a terrible defense with a secondary that gives up a lot of yards. Griffin one of the best young quarterbacks will look to make up for the week one disappointment in DC will bring his A game against the Eagles soft defense.
In Week 1, the team didn’t use a lot of the zone read option that made Griffin so deadly in his rookie season. But with the Redskins using the option more the Eagles defenders will have to pick their poison and stop Morris or Griffin. This will also open up more passing lanes for Griffin and his new favorite target Jordan Reed. I can’t wait to see these two young quarterbacks to put on a show in Philadelphia.
