It’s time again for the top five matchups for week 12. These are matchups that have the potential to turn into fantasy point shoot outs. I know I will definitely be tuning in to these games to watch these match ups. This week all five matchups should be fun to watch even if you don’t have any fantasy connection with these players.
5. Tony Romo vs. Eli Manning
The NFC East is terrible this year and every defense in this division is weaker than a line of standing dominos. So there’s no surprise that these two franchise quarterbacks will be expected to put on a decent show this week. Romo has some of the best offensive weapons in the league at his disposal. Dez Bryant and Jason Witten are guys that will get open frequently, add in Romo’s scramble ability you have a defensive nightmare. Manning is looking better now that he has the help of the running game behind him. Add in everyone’s favorite salsa dancer Giants leading receiver Victor Cruz, and you get Manning of old. Hopefully we don’t see the Manning from the first six weeks ever again.
4. Tavon Austin vs. Alshon Jeffery
Austin and Jeffery are two young receivers with BIG play potential. Austin had an explosive game last week against the Colts. On offense he had 2 catches for 138 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also had a long punt return for a touchdown. Austin is a threat to take it to the house from anywhere on the field. Jeffery isn’t as elusive as Austin but he is also a big play threat that can turn a two yard catch into a 80 yard touchdown. Both players should get plenty of opportunities this game. Austin will be going up against a Bears defense that has struggled this year without their leader Lance Briggs. Jeffery makes his money off number two cornerbacks with Brandon Marshall getting the attention of the best cover corner on the team.
3. Vincent Jackson vs. Calvin Johnson
Battle of two very talented wideouts this week and I’m telling you this is the one I really want to watch. Johnson one of my favorite athletes to watch is hands down the best receiver in the league, and has the potential to be the G.O.A.T. He’s everything you want in a receiver, he’s big, fast, strong, and has great ball skills. I’ve put him in the unstoppable doesn’t really matter who you have on him category. It will be fun to see him go crazy on Revis Island. Jackson is having a really good year, way better than any other receiver on his team. Jackson showed everyone the type of game he is capable of last week when he broke out 165 receiving yards and a touchdown on 10 catches. I expect him to go big again since the Lions defense isn’t bad but the don’t really have lockdown corners. I really want to see Jackson and Johnson an all out duel this week.
2. Adrian Peterson vs. Eddie Lacy
Peterson will get his points no matter who he’s playing. As the best running back in the league he will always be expected to put up impressive numbers. Also with how bad the quarterback position is in Minnesota, Peterson will always get a heavy workload. Peterson should break a couple long runs against his divisional rivals. Lacy should be starting no matter what this weak as he has a dream matchup. The Packers are without Aaron Rodgers and the passing game has suffered because of it. This week the catch a break as the face the Vikings terrible defense ranked last in the league. Lacy should be featured since the passing game is struggling so much. The Vikings defense barring a miracle will not have enough to hold Lacy back from not having a good game. Sparks will fly when these physical runners meet at Lambo Field this week.
1. Peyton Manning vs. Tom Brady
Finally the matchup of all matchups, the big game everyone will be tuned into this week. Brady vs Manning a quarterback rivalry that will never die. We love to see these two battle it out because they’re probably the two best quarterbacks in the game today. Brady and Manning have been going at it for years now with Brady leading the series and at the same time, winning more super bowls. Manning has more MVP awards along with better individual stats, but this time is different. This off season Manning was able to lure Brady’s favorite target Wes Welker to Denver and together they have put together one of the craziest offensive seasons. Manning has led every passing category all year, and Welker leads the team in receptions with 61. This game also has added drama factor with these two teams likely to make the playoffs and meet in the postseason. Yeah I can’t wait either my friends.
