Week 13 has a lot of pretty good fantasy football matchups. This week the skill positions will take the flame back from the quarterbacks. This week is all about the offensive weapons poised to put up some big numbers for their fantasy owners.
5. Steve Smith vs. Vincent Jackson
Tampa Bay come into this game after recently winning three straight games behind their rookie quarterback Mike Glennon. Jackson the number one target for Glennon will be expected to step up as he has all season for the young signal caller. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he goes over 10 catches. Carolina has a good defense but Jackson will be targeted heavily. Smith will need to step up and be able to get a ticket off Revis Island. Smith will need to be open enough to help Cam Newton move the football up the field. Carolina will have to do something special to get Smith the ball in the open field.
4. Tavon Austin vs. Anquan Boldin
Right now Boldin and Vernon Davis are the only two 49er’s with receiving touchdowns and this week Boldin should take advantage of a young secondary. He should still be getting the majority of the targets with Davis so he can add a touchdown or two this week. Austin has really come along the last couple weeks, and has really proven himself as the high first rounder he is. The Rams have also done a lot better at creating matchups and putting him in favorable positions where he has the upper hand. I feel sorry for anyone that is tasked with tackling Austin in the open field the rest the year.
3. A.J. Green vs. Keenan Allen
Green has had such a good year and has really cemented himself as a top five receiver in this league. Fantasy wise he is also now one of the players that you start no matter what every single week. He’s a guy that can explode for points and single handedly win you fantasy games. Allen is a rookie receiver with Green potential, he has good size speed and is very talented. He currently has 50 catches for 737 yards (a team high) and three touchdowns. Going up against a pretty good Bengals defense Allen get a lot targets with multiple opportunities to make big plays.
2. Alfred Morris vs. Andre Brown
This is a game between two blue collar running backs that get the job done and they do it well. Brown has only played in three games this season, but is already the Giants rushing leader on the year. He has proven himself as the Giants number one guy and he’s going up against a horrible defense. The Redskins defense is terrible this year at getting to the ball, and when they get there they’ll probably miss the tackle. Brown will have a nice day if the Giants get him his carries early. Morris is one of the best running backs in the league. He is a guy that doesn’t go down on first contact and will probably drag a defensive lineman a couple yards before falling. WIth the struggles in the passing game lately look for Washington to feature Morris, and pound the rock all day.
1. Marshawn Lynch vs. Darren Sproles
This weekend we will get to see the two best fantasy running backs square off in Seattle on Monday Night Football. Sproles is made for fantasy as he racks up yards in almost any category they have in the books. Sometimes I think that they should create another position name for him because of all the places he lines up. You’ll see him go over 100 all purpose yards easily against Seattle. You can’t stop an offensive weapon like Sproles, just line up and pray for the best. Lynch is a beast and the only way the Saints will stop him from getting his numbers is if he forgot his bag of Skittles. Lynch like Green and Sproles are players you should start every week no matter the matchup. They will both get a lot of fantasy points and that will make this game really fun to watch.
