Top Five IDP Cornerbacks for Week 1

One of the keys to winning in IDP fantasy leagues is to have good defensive backs. Last year the best defensive backs were corners. Here are the top five IDP Cornerbacks for the first week of the season.

5. Leonard Johnson vs. New York Jets

The Jets have a rookie quarterback, and not a very good one. They will also be throwing the ball a lot in the second half, especially with new offensive coordinator Marty Morhinweg. This will not be a recurring theme, but Johnson has the opportunity to have a huge game this week.

Game Projection: Four Tackles, One Pass Defensed. One Interception

4. Janoris Jenkins vs. Arizona Cardinals

Jenkins was a big play machine last season, totaling four touchdowns and averaging over double digit fantasy points in the last six games. Against a pass-happy Cardinals team, he could score again.

Game projection: Four Tackles, One Pass Defensed, One Interception

3. Richard Sherman vs. Carolina Panthers

Sherman was the top fantasy defensive back last season in most leagues, and he could very well repeat that this season. This week the Seahawks play the Panthers, and Sherman will try to victimize Cam Newton.

Game projection: Three Tackles, Two Passes Defensed and One Interception

2. Patrick Peterson vs. St. Louis Rams

Peterson will try to assert himself into the same realm as Richard Sherman and Darrelle Revis as a top corner in the NFL this year, and his fantasy value is through the roof. He is able to make plays on defense in addition to being an elite punt returner. This week against the Rams is no exception.

Game projection: Three Tackles, Two Passes Defensed, 80 return yards.

1. Darrelle Revis vs. New York Jets

Most of the time, Revis is not a tremendous fantasy play, simply because no one throws the ball to “Revis Island”, but rookie Geno Smith will likely find that out the hard way.

Game Projection: Three Tackles, Three Passes Defensed and One Interception
