Top NFL Draft Need for Each NFC West Team

Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks probably have the most talented roster from top-to-bottom in the NFL. So they have fewer needs heading into the draft than most teams. But all 32 teams have needs and Seattle's top need is pretty obvious. Before free agency began their top need was wide receiver. However, they were able to trade All-Pro center Max Unger to New Orleans for tight end Jimmy Graham. Graham isn’t a wide receiver but he can certainly be used like one and will prevent defenses from stacking the box to stop Marshawn Lynch. Since they now have a top talent to catch the ball, they need people to protect Russell Wilson. Their offensive line wasn’t very good last season and took a big hit when they lost Unger. Seattle will certainly be drafting multiple offensive linemen in the upcoming draft.

Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals have addressed a lot of needs in free agency already, but they’ve also lost a lot, especially on defense. The place on their defense they need to address the most is at the inside linebacker position. As of right now, Kevin Minter and Kenny Demens are their starting inside linebackers. Neither of which can be counted on to be an every down linebacker. Although their defensive line is going to be strong again this season, they need linebackers who can make plays and be all over the field if they want their defense to be successful.

San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers have possibly had the worst offseason in franchise history. They’ve lost a lot on both sides of the ball, especially on defense. Despite losing so much on defense, their biggest need is still on offense. Although they were able to sign wide receiver Torrey Smith in free agency, their biggest need is still at wide receiver. Anquan Boldin only has one more year left on his contract and even if he decides to stay, he’s no spring chicken. When Boldin inevitably leaves, they’ll be in desperate need of a possession wide receiver who isn’t afraid to go over the middle and can make catches even when he seems covered. Smith is extremely talented but he’s not the type of receiver that can carry a receiver corps.

St. Louis Rams

St. Louis just landed itself a new quarterback when they were able to trade for Nick Foles. The biggest problem with Foles is that he holds onto the ball way too long if his first read isn’t clearly open. This is a problem, especially for a team with a less than stellar offensive line. This is the Rams’ biggest need going into the draft. Their offensive line was pretty bad last season and hasn’t gotten any better. They will surely address this with multiple picks in the draft.
