It was reported on Saturday that rookie New York Jets wide receiver Devin Smith had suffered broken ribs and would miss the majority of training camp.
Further details on the injury are out, and it's not good:
This puts Smith's status for Week 1 up in the air. If he's unable to go, Eric Decker will retain the starting job opposite Brandon Marshall—a job he might have had to fight Smith off for if the latter didn't fall to the injury bug early in camp. It also elevates Jeremy Kerley and DeVier Posey on the depth chart.
From a fantasy perspective, Decker is the one to watch here. A mid-tier WR2 in standard leagues last season, Decker's current ADP is at the top of the 10th round in 12-team leagues. Even with Marshall slated to get a ton of targets as Geno Smith's No. 1 receiver, Decker should still be a solid value play as a late-round FLEX or top-end bench option.
