Updated NFL News and Rumors

Here is a look at some recent NFL news and rumors as we prepare for the start of the new league year in just over three weeks. While not much can get done in terms of actual player movement, the wheels are being set in motion for ample activity once the free agency/trade period begins.

So, let's take a look.

Greg Jennings Showing Interest in the Miami Dolphins?

It doesn't appear that Jennings will be returning to the Green Bay Packers next season. General manager Ted Thompson already has a strong receiving group in place and really has no need for this veteran receiver. This means that Jennings will hit the open market. The two-time Pro Bowl receiver has apparently shown interest in the Miami Dolphins.

""The weather's definitely nice. They have an up and coming quarterback."

This shouldn't come as much of a surprise considering that Miami' head coach, Joe Philbin, is a former offensive assistant with the Packers. Jennings would provide Ryan Tannehill with a No. 1-type wide receiver, if healthy.

Buffalo Bills Release Terrence McGee

It has been about five seasons since this veteran cornerback was one of the better cornerbacks in the NFL. Since the start of the 2009 season, McGee has played in 33 of a possible 64 games for Buffalo. Needless to say, the team was in no position to have him use up $4.5 million against the cap in '13. If McGee can prove he is healthy, even at 32, he can be an upgrade as a nickel back for a team in need of depth.

Kansas City Chiefs Looking to Extend Dwayne Bowe

It has been a forgone conclusion that Kansas City would part ways with its No. 1 wide receiver after the two sides have had a difficult relationship since it drafted him in the first round of the 2007 draft. Now, it seems that the Chiefs are interested in retaining their star receiver. According to NFL.com, the two sides have met to discuss the parameters of a contract and will continue to meet in the weeks leading up to the start of free agency. Still, don't expect them to come an agreement before Bowe tests the open market.

Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs Linked to Nick Foles

This isn't going to happen. Pure conjecture seems to indicate that the only reason Kansas City is linked to the Philadelphia Eagles' quarterback is because of Reid switching teams earlier in the offseason. There is absolutely no reason for the Eagles to move Foles, even after retaining Michael Vick on a one-year contract earlier in the week. Foles has the skillset to be a starting quarterback in the NFL and will be Philadelphia's signal caller of the future. Short of Kansas City yielding a second-round pick, which isn't likely, I don't see this happening.

Philadelphia Eagles Sign Dennis Dixon

No, this isn't a prelude to a Nick Foles trade. Rather, it just made sense for former Oregon' head coach Chip Kelly to bring in his quarterback from  Eugene. Dixon understands the Eagles' new offensive scheme and should do wonders helping Vick and/or Foles adapt to it. In addition, he could be a valuable asset if Philadelphia decides to go with the zone read at times in 2013. Either way, Dixon isn't much more than a solid No. 3.

Washington Redskins Sign Ron Brace

Brace was originally drafted by the New England Patriots are a replacement for Vince Wilfork in the second round of the 2009 NFL draft. He proceeded to do absolutely nothing in four seasons with New England, starting a total of seven games and recording 39 tackles. Washington will give him a shot to earn a spot in training camp.
