Two of the NFL's most dominating pass-catching tight ends went down with injuries during Sunday's action. There's seemingly good news for one of the Pro Bowlers, while the other one will be lost for the remainder of the season.
The good news first.
ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski suffered a knee strain in the team's loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday night.
While the injury isn't too serious, Gronkowski is expected to miss multiple weeks:
With Gronkowski out next week against the Philadelphia Eagles, Scott Chandler becomes a decent streaming option in DFS contests. He connected well with Tom Brady after Gronkowski went out with injury on Sunday and has performed well this year.
Though, injuries to Gronkowski as well as top receiver Julian Edelman will put a strain on Brady's production moving forward.
In Seattle, the news is nowhere near as good for Seahawks tight end Jimmy Graham, who suffered a ruptured right patellar tendon on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Seattle placed Graham on season-ending injured reserve on Monday:
While Graham has struggled to mesh in Seattle's run-first offense, he's still an important part of that offense. With Graham out of action, Luke Willson will likely take over as Seattle's top tight end. That's unlikely to impact fantasy football much moving forward on the year.
