We are getting closer and closer to playoff season where you can almost taste it. And it tastes good. This week is a Top 10 Quarterback list. Learn it, live it, love it. You know the rest.
1. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints
Watching all those Pepsi commercials, I think we are all glad Brees is sticking to his day job as a quarterback. He is facing Tampa Bay this week and it will surely be a match up when he goes up against Freeman. Safe to say Brees is also due for a great game. He only had one touchdown last week and suffered from two interceptions, however this week he has a great chance to redeem himself and he should. 27 points.
2. Josh Freeman, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Freeman faces the worst passing defense in the league this week in the Saints. This will give him a lot of chances to get the pigskin in the end zone. He has two massive weapons in Vincent Jackson and Mike Williams. Look for them to put up some big numbers too. Expect 26 points for Freeman.
3. Tom Brady, New England Patriots
It’s safe to say no matter who Brady faces, week-to-week he will be on this list. Whether he is rocking his famous Uggs or his cleats, Brady is a savage in the pocket. The Patriots took the No. 1 power ranking thanks to Tom’s arm. Brady completed 21-of-35 passes for 296 yards and four touchdowns in Monday's win over the Texans. He faces a tough 49ers defense this week, but will still give you at least 24 points.
4. Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers
For the record, Cam Newton is not my mother’s favorite quarterback; however after this week maybe she may change her mind. Newton got his legs loose last week against the Falcons with 287 yards and two touchdowns. 23 points for Newton.
5. Colin Kaepernick, San Francisco 49ers
If you haven’t heard of Kaepernick yet, you are obviously living under a rock. It’s my pleasure to introduce you to him. Kaep completed 18 of 23 passes for 185 yards but rushed six times for 53 yards and a touchdown as the 49ers defeated the Dolphins in Week 14. I’m a huge Kaepernick supporter and I see him getting your team 20 points this week.
6. Peyton Manning, Denver Broncos
Manning faces the Ravens this week at Baltimore in what should be a great game. Even though the Ravens are playing at home and their defense has been pretty solid, expect Manning to put up a lot of points to help your fantasy football team. 19 points for Manning.
7. Matt Schaub, Houston Texans
In respect for Matt, we are going to forget about his game against the Patriots Monday night. Plus, it is healthy to not live in the past. He has a respectful 3,294 passing yards under his belt this season and Arian Foster plays a huge roll in keeping Schaub’s confidence up. You should still start him, he will do good things for you. Matt will take you to the candy Schaub. 18 points.
8. Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons
Ryan started off slow last week in the beginning of the matchup against the Panthers. He completed 34-of-49 attempts for 342 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. He came back hot in the second half however. He faces the New York Giants this week and should be able to handle a 27th ranked passing defense. 17 points for Ryan.
9. Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers
Do you wonder what Aaron asked Santa for Christmas? A cheese head? Perhaps one of Clay Matthews famous FatHeads? This week he is probably asking for Chicago too cool it on their outstanding defense. After all, Chicago is known for keeping quarterbacks off the fantasy scoreboard. Still, we know Rodgers knows what he is doing in the pocket, so benching him should not be in question. 17 points for Aaron.
10. Andy Dalton, Cincinnati Bengals
Dalton completed 20 of 33 passes for 206 yards with one touchdown and an interception Sunday against the Cowboys. He faces a terrible Eagles team this week who has not had an interception since Week 6. He never lets down fantasy owners so if he is your go to guy I suggest keeping him in your lineup. 17 points for Dalton.
Honorable Mention: Joe Flacco, Baltimore, 16 points
Honorable Mention: Robert Griffin III, Washington, 16 points
