I love this time of year. No, I'm not referring to the Holiday's, I'm talking about playoff season in the National Football League. Does it give you a tingly feeling inside? I hope that's excitement. This week I give you the top 10 quarterbacks you should start in your lineup. I know a lot of you have prizes on the line and I wish you the best of luck.
1. Aaron Rodgers - Look out, Rodgers is heating up. It's hard to find a better matchup than Sunday’s versus
the Titans. Rodgers is coming off a solid performance last week. He is coming off a solid performance from last week with three touchdowns, I expect a massive game against a weak secondary and weak defensive line. I Wouldn’t be surprised to see 26 points from him this week.
2. Tom Brady - Brady threw for 443 yards last week against a good San Francisco defense. You might say Brady is the luckiest man on earth, with a model wife, Gisele, but at some point you have to face the facts, you can’t be lucky all the time. Brady is solid week in and week out, and it is never a good idea to leave him out of the lineup. Too many weapons, and the when the Pats are up they don’t run out the clock. They put the foot down and Brady throws the hell out of the ball. Expect the Pats to run up the score this week vs the Jags, and expect a bunch from Brady. 25 points.
3. Matt Ryan - Matt Ryan throws touchdowns on the regular, plus he has only thrown one touchdown in three games. Don’t worry about Detroit’s defense stepping up the last couple weeks, they are about to be exploited by Ryan and his weapons. So many tools in that offense you could build a house. 24 points, Ryan will embarrass that defense (insert Suh’s
kick to the nuts joke here).
4. Drew Brees - Heads up, this game has the potential to be a shootout. If you think Tony Romo can hang with Brees you’re mistaken. Big game ahead for both, but Brees will show you why he is elite on Sunday. He threw for four touchdown passes last week against Tampa Bay, and you’re crazy if you think you can slow him down when he’s hot (Not in that way). 23 points.
5. Cam Newton Whoever Newton is dating, and whoever drafted him on to their fantasy teams, it is clear that Newton is a keeper. He’s going to make the Raiders defense look like a pee wee football team. With no turnovers in the last five weeks, I see a rushing touchdown in his future on Sunday and a couple passing as well. Carolina will win by 10, and that little kid just got his dreams crushed. Newton’s not going anywhere, the Panthers are his team. 21 points.
6. Peyton Manning Peyton will show you Sunday why he might win the MVP and why the Broncos have won nine games in a row. He has another great matchup Sunday against the Browns. Easy 2 million fantasy points. I mean two million free pizzas. 19 fantasy points for Manning.
7. Colin Kaepernick vs Seattle- Tough matchup this week for Kaep, but it’s hard to keep a running quarterback off the top 10 list. He had a solid performance against New England last week with 216 yards and four touchdowns. The Seahawks are on fire, but he offers too much potential for fantasy scoring. The 49ers might be held down this weekend, but Kaepernick won’t. He’ll make Nevada proud with 18 points.
8. Andrew Luck The Chiefs are good at forcing turnovers, and lately Luck has been good at throwing them. Still, this matchup is tempting. Andrew is a beast, and you can't forget about his 28 point performance in Week 13 against the Lions, and maybe I’m just feeling Lucky. 17 points.
9. Nick Foles - Foles showed his potential Week 14 against Tampa with 31 fantasy points, and I expect a big day versus the Redskins the second time around. You know what they say; Foles me once, shame on me. Foles me twice. Start him. 16 points.
10. Robert Griffin III - I know, it's a little low for the number one scorer in fantasy football this year. He almost missed the cut due to the knee injury (which obviously limits his upside this week) He is, however, set to come back this week. I expect a heavy dose of Alfred Morris, and we’ll see what RG3 can do with limited mobility. 15 points.
Honorable Mention:
Tony Romo- 15 points
Eli Manning-15 points
