Two of the top offenses in the NFL will do battle Sunday when the Atlanta Falcons host the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game.
It promises to be a high-scoring affair that should bring out a ton of fantasy points as the DFS season itself draws to a conclusion. That's only magnified by the fact that both Atlanta and Green Bay finished in the bottom five of the NFL against the pass during the regular season.
Though, there's most definitely a backstory at play here. Receivers on both teams are tremendously banged up heading into a game that will decide the NFC representative for Super Bowl LI.
We already know that Jordy Nelson (ribs) is doubtful to play in this one. He suffered the injury against the New York Giants in the Wild Card round and missed last week's win over the Dallas Cowboys. With Nelson out of action, Randall Cobb and Davante Adams combined for 12 receptions and 138 yards in the three-point win over Dallas.
Now, it's being reported that Adams himself suffered a sprained ankle in the game and will not participate in Packers practice until Saturday. That's a major story to break in the lead up to this game. Normally when a player is unable to practice throughout the week, he's more than doubtful for the upcoming weekend's game. Though, with everything on the line here, Adams will surely look to give it a go.
The third-year receiver from Fresno State has recorded 13 receptions for 201 yards and a score in two playoff games.
On the other side, Julio Jones suffered a toe injury in the Atlanta Falcons' win over the Seattle Seahawks last week. He did not return to the field and is being held out of practice on Wednesday.
It seems to be a long shot that Jones will miss Sunday's game. But as we saw throughout the regular season, Jones' injuries have slowed him down at times this year.
From a fantasy perspective, there seems to be a lot up in the air here.
What we will say is that Randall Cobb is a must play. He would have been with Nelson likely to miss the game in the first place. Now with Adams' questionable status, that's magnified further.
As it relates to the Falcons, there's no reason to believe Jones will miss Sunday's game. And if he were to be slowed down with the toe injury, that's simply a risk we have to take against a bad Packers pass defense.
