Now that we know Indianapolis Colts starting quarterback Andrew Luck will be sidelined for at least two weeks, the conversation will quickly turn to whether Matt Hasselbeck can keep the team afloat in Luck's stead.
With Indianapolis on a bye this week, there's a chance Luck might miss just one game. However, the seriousness of the injury seems to suggest that he will be out closer to the six-week time frame suggested by the Colts in their press release on Tuesday.
More so than a shoulder injury or fractured ribs, issues with the kidney and abdominal areas should raise some red flags. At the very least, when it comes to Luck's overall health off the field.
If Luck's recovery time is closer to that six-week suggestion, it means that Hasselbeck will start the Colts' next fives games. And with a favorable upcoming schedule, there's no reason to believe he can't put up some good numbers.
Here's the Colts next five opponents and their fantasy ranking against quarterbacks this season:
| Week | Opponent | FF Ranking |
| 11 | Atlanta | 5th |
| 12 | Tampa Bay | 28th |
| 13 | Pittsburgh | 16th |
| 14 | Jacksonville | 27th |
| 15 | Houston | 25th |
Even the Falcons pass defense has been suspect as of late. Heck, it allowed two touchdown passes to Blaine Gabbert last week.
Keep in mind that the veteran quarterback put up nearly 500 passing yards with three touchdowns and zero picks when he started two games for a then injured Luck earlier this season.
We aren't looking at someone that's going to be a continual top-10 performer in Luck's stead. Instead, Hasselbeck would give you an option to play the matchups with, especially if your current quarterback situation is lacking — something that's far from abnormal with both Luck and Ben Roethlisberger sidelined.
