Worst Fantasy Football Performances of Week 6

Russell Wilson, Quarterback, Seattle Seahawks

What a day to start Wilson you fantasy lineups. Proving trustworthy so far over the season, throwing for two touchdown per game left fantasy owners in Week 6 with an incredibly disappointing performance. Thankfully, Wilson managed one rushing touchdown, because he didn’t throw any and only had a lousy 126 passing yards.

A costly interception during the Seahawks’ last opportunity to turn the game around caused the team to lose at home to Dallas, and quickly eliminated any chance of Wilson squeaking in a last-minute touchdown for his fantasy owners. For those who started Wilson, he earned a whopping 8.24 points in Week 6.

Eli Manning, Quarterback, New York Giants

The “bad” version of Manning appears to have returned in Week 6, disappointing all the fantasy owners who thought his favorable matchup against Philadelphia would reward fantasy points galore. Obviously starting Manning backfired, and when he wasn’t spending time on the ground enduring six sacks, he certainly wasn’t throwing touchdowns either.

Manning, while he avoided interceptions, only passed for 151 yards in a scoreless, blowout loss to the Eagles, dumping a measly 0.34 fantasy points on his owners. Let’s look for Manning to fare better against Dallas in Week 7.

Teddy Bridgewater, Quarterback, Minnesota Vikings

If you had the urge or need to start the Bridgewater experiment as your fantasy quarterback in Week 6, you have my condolences. Bridgewater was a painfully disappointing fantasy football disaster in a loss to Detroit in Week 6.

Unfortunately, Bridgewater was no match for the Lions’ brutal defense who intercepted him three times and laid eight sacks on the poor rookie. There was not a touchdown in sight, leaving Bridgewater to end this horrific day giving fantasy owners -5.38 points. Leaving your roster empty in Week 6 would have played out better.

Doug Martin, Running Back, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

If you braved starting Martin in your fantasy football lineup, you were not anticipating the opposing team’s quarterback, Joe Flacco to throw a total of five touchdowns turning the game completely upside down by the second quarter.

Unfortunately, the Buccaneers didn’t have the luxury of relying on any type of running game, leaving Martin little opportunity to bring much to the table for his fantasy owners in Week 6, which resulted in only 5.80 points. The positive note here is that Martin, when he did play, gathered up 45 rushing yards on 11 attempts, so his lack of chance was to blame for his disappointing Week 6 performance.

Eddie Lacy, Running Back, Green Bay Packers

Coming off of a couple awesome performances had Lacy dumping an incredibly disappointing Week 6 performance onto the laps of his fantasy owners. Sadly, Lacy only squandered up 40 rushing yards on 14 attempts and didn’t score for the first time in three weeks.

He also wasn’t targeted for any receptions, rewarding a total of just 4.00 fantasy points in Week 6. Next up for Lacy, who is clearly becoming more of a matchup-based player, is the Carolina Panthers. Fortunately, they really stink in defending the run; giving up 159 rushing yards to Cincinnati this past week. Therefore, Lacy should rebound in Week 7.

Steven Jackson, Running Back, Atlanta Falcons

Jackson, who has been an adequate flex start the past few weeks, plummeted down into disappointing territory in Week 6. Tallying up just 25 yards on the six opportunities he had to run the ball, and scoring zero touchdowns left owners who started Jackson with only 2.50 fantasy points. Hopefully Jackson will get back on track, however he faces Miami next who did a stout job of holding Lacy, mentioned above, in check.

Jeremy Maclin, Wide Receiver, Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles had no problem scoring in Sunday night’s Week 6 win against the New York Giants. However, Maclin who only had three targets and zero scores all evening was practically a non-factor in the teams’ win. Unfortunately, Maclin’s disappointing performance resulting in only 3.60 fantasy points likely cost his fantasy owners their games.

Hopefully Maclin, who has seen 11 targets in four of his six Eagles’ games will be back on track after the team returns from their bye next week.

Percy Harvin, Wide Receiver, Seattle Seahawks

Week 6 was an incredibly disappointing time to start Harvin in fantasy lineups. After coming off of what would have been three touchdowns the previous week, unfortunately recalled due to penalties, one would have thought the force would have been with Harvin in Week 6.

Sadly, Harvin was only targeted by Wilson four times, for which he caught three passes for zero yards. There wasn’t a touchdown, or a recalled touchdown anywhere in sight for Harvin, leaving his fantasy owners with only 2.90 points for Week 6. Harvin faces St. Louis in Week 7 where in all hopes, he’ll be back on the right page.

Wes Welker, Wide Receiver, Denver Broncos

Fantasy owners of Welker were probably ready to file a missing persons’ report until he finally surfaced and caught one ball for eight yards late in Denver’s win against the New York Jets. Welker’s lack of targets with only the one in Week 6 is extremely concerning for those who are forced to start Welker into their weekly lineups.

Perhaps Welkers’ owners can just chalk up his lousy performance and 1.80 fantasy points to a fluke as he has been targeted nine times in both of his prior games this season. If things don’t look up for Welker next week against San Francisco, then it might be time to examine other options.

Kendall Wright, Wide Receiver, Tennessee Titans

What a horribly disappointing fantasy performance from Wright in Week 6, coming off of such a spectacular game last week. Wright had only one target for which he caught for six yards and zero touchdowns earning his fantasy owners a pathetic 1.60 points for the week. Compare that to his 27.0 points and two touchdowns the previous week, and those who started Wright got duped in Week 6.

Let’s remain optimistic that Wright will find some middle ground and level back out as the WR2/flex for which he was drafted.

Larry Donnell, Tight End, New York Giants

Unfortunately those who started Donnell in Week 6 coming off of his goose egg of a performance in Week 5, had nearly the same disappointing results once again. With only two targets and one catch for six yards left fantasy owners in Week 6 with a dreadful 1.60 points, and second-guessing their decision to start Donnell. Unfortunately, Donnell’s fantasy numbers would have been better, however a touchdown catch he made got recalled due to penalty.

It might be time to trade or bench Donnell while we wait to see if his targets increase due to the rise of rookie wide receiver, Odell Beckham Jr. in the teams’ offense.
