Worst Fantasy Football Performances of Week 7

Jay Cutler, Quarterback, Chicago Bears

Cutler was an utter mess in his Week 7 in a home loss to the Miami Dolphins. If you started Cutler as your fantasy quarterback, he rewarded a disappointing 4.90 fantasy points at the end of his excruciating performance. Enduring three sacks, throwing an interception, and completing only 21 of 34 passes had Cutler passing for only 190 yards, scoring one lousy touchdown for his fantasy owners.

Next up is a road game for Cutler at New England where he should get back on track, earning those double-digit fantasy points he has rewarded previously all season.

Andy Dalton, Quarterback, Cincinnati Bengals

Pitted up against the second-toughest defense against quarterbacks, had Dalton scrambling around all day long against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 7. While Dalton stayed clean with zero interceptions, he also scored zero touchdowns and only passed for 126 yards. Incompletions were a huge problem for Dalton as he only connected on 18 of his 38 attempts. After such a disappointing performance, Dalton rewarded his owners with his all-time low of 2.0 fantasy points. Buckle up, because Week 8 presents Dalton with another difficult matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.

Giovani Bernard, Running Back, Cincinnati Bengals

While we’re speaking of disappointing Bengals Bernard must be added to the list for Week 7. After crushing it last week with an 89-yard rushing touchdown, Bernard only had seven carries managing just 17 yards in Sunday’s blowout loss. Since the team played from behind the whole game, remaining scoreless, any hope of a major run-game for Bernard was out the window in Week 7. Unfortunately, those who started Bernard wound up with a meager 3.60 fantasy points. Bernard is always a must-start, and he faces the Ravens next where he robbed them of 110 combined yards back in Week 1.

Frank Gore, Running Back, San Francisco 49ers

Gore was a horrible disappointment in Week 7 in a disastrous loss to the Denver Broncos. The Broncos acquired a massive lead early in the game, forcing Colin Kaepernick to throw tons, which resulted in only 20 rushing yards on nine touches for Gore. With fellow running back, Carlos Hyde pocketing some of the carries, fantasy owners who started Gore watched in frustration as the veteran running back tallied up only 2.00 fantasy points for Week 7. Next week is a bye week for Gore and the 49ers, however Week 9 brings another meeting with the Rams where Gore only managed 38 rushing yards in Week 6.

Zac Stacy, Running Back, St. Louis Rams

Stacy was hands-down the most disappointing fantasy player anyone could have had on their Week 7 roster. For some reason, the Rams thought it would be fun to mess with Stacy owners and only involve him in one snap for the entire game. If you consulted your crystal ball before the start of the game, you would have played fellow rookie running back, Tre Mason, as he stole the show in Week 7. Sadly, all Stacy had to offer his fantasy owners was a giant goose egg on Sunday. The Rams face a stingy Chief’s defense in Week 8, where we really won’t know which running back will be the flavor of the day.

Alshon Jeffery, Wide Receiver, Chicago Bears

Jeffery, who is typically a solid start any given week, had a stinker of a disappointing fantasy performance in Week 7. Starting off the game with two catches for nine yards was all Jeffery had to show for in a tough loss to the Miami Dolphins. Cutler, mentioned above was horribly inaccurate connecting with Jeffery on just two of his nine passing attempts. Zero touchdowns and only those nine yards had Jeffery rewarding only 2.90 fantasy points at the end of the Bears’ defeat. Let’s hope Jeffery fares better in Week against a Patriots defense, ranked second-best at defending opposing wide receivers.

Eddie Royal, Wide Receiver, San Diego Chargers

Royal, who tends to either run hot or cold from week to week, disappointed those who started him in Week 7 as he only scraped together one catch for 20 yards. That 20-yard catch along with zero touchdowns presented Royal’s fantasy owners with only 3.00 fantasy points for Week 7. Unfortunately, Royal is a gamble to start in a Chargers’ offense loaded with so many skilled weapons. For those who want to or have no choice but to start Royal in Week 8, he’ll face the Denver Broncos who’ve only allowed five touchdowns to wide receivers.

Vernon Davis, Tight End, San Francisco 49ers

Davis was about as ineffective as it gets in his awful performance against the Denver Broncos in Week 7. Last week have Davis dropping two passes and Week 7 had him catching only 2 passes. 21 yards and no touchdowns don’t exactly cut it coming from a high draft pick like Davis. Sadly enough, other than Davis’ Week 1 performance where he scored 20.4 fantasy points, his total fantasy points combined from his other four weeks of play do not even add up to this amount.

Maybe Davis’ Week 8 bye will give him the rest he needs to get back on course for the remainder of the season.

Jordan Cameron, Tight End, Cleveland Browns

For those who started Cameron in Week 7, wow, did he ever disappoint? Managing only one catch on five targets for 21 yards and of course no touchdowns, left fantasy owners with a miserable 1.50 fantasy points. Cameron’s fantasy owners have really been cheated so far this season. With only one awesome performance and the rest horribly sub-par, it’s beginning to be clear that the chances of Cameron earning TE1 fantasy points each week is going to be a true struggle for the rest of the fantasy season.

Julius Thomas, Tight End, Denver Broncos

Week 7 had nearly every Bronco, but Thomas scoring as we watched his quarterback, Peyton Manning break the overall touchdown record. For some reason, it was a quiet night for Thomas owners, who have become accustomed to him scoring one or more touchdowns each week this season. With only four catches for 27 yards, Thomas unfortunately disappointed his owners in Week 7, rewarding just 6.70 fantasy points. Surely for Thomas, this was just an off-game and he remains a must-start when Denver and San Diego meet up for Thursday Night Football in Week 8.
