The NHL playoffs are approachng fast and some players are going to need to really step it up if their team wants to get a high seed or even into the playoffs. Let's take a look at five of those players.
Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh Penguins
You may seem surprised that Crosby is on this list, but this season has been his worst in the NHL. He's behind in the scoring race and is not tearing up the league like he usually does when he's healthy. He has to prove to the Penguins that he's still the best player in the world and that he can lead his team in the playoffs this year.
Kyle Okposo, New York Islanders
Okposo is just coming off a major injury that sidelined him for over a month and now. He has to prove to the Islanders that he's fully back and ready to go for the playoffs. Okposo is a big part of the Islanders team and if he isn't the same player for them as they head into the playoffs, they could be in big trouble. We'll see how he plays.
Henrik Lundqvist, New York Rangers
Henrik may be injured right now but it doesn't seem like he's going to be out much longer. In a week or two, he could be back and the Rangers may take first place in the division thanks to him. "King" Henrik has to prove that he is the best goaltender in the world again and can lead the Rangers back to the Cup final and maybe win this time.
Justin Williams , Los Angeles Kings
The Con Smythe winner from last year is going to have to play like he did in last years playoffs if the Kings are to get back into the playoffs. The Kings have been playing inconsistent hockey a lot this season but they are starting to find their stride and Williams needs to put up very good numbers.
Andrew Ladd, Winnipeg Jets
This may also come as a surprise to you guys but Winnipeg is in a chase to get into the playoffs and Andrew Ladd needs to be big if they are to get in. He leads the team in points this season and has arguably been their best player. We'll see if he can help lead the Jets to their first playoff appearance since coming back to Winnipeg.
