The NHL is more than two months in and we've already seen some trade rumors flying around and a few minor trades. We won't see any big trades until the trade deadline in March. Let's take a look at five players who could be moved by then.
David Perron, Edmonton Oilers: Edmonton has had a season to forget so far, as they are sitting dead last in the Western Conference and have gone through an 11-game losing streak this year. With no playoffs in sight, it's time for them to trade some of their players since it may not be working out. Perron has had a lot of trade rumors fly around him this year as teams such as the Bruins and Penguins are interested. Edmonton wants a lot in return though so you're going to have to pay a steep price to acquire Perron.
Vincent Lecavalier, Philadelphia Flyers: It just hasn't worked out at all in Philly for Vinny. This is his second year in Philadelphia and it just isn't a good fit for him. On top of that, he has been a healthy scratch for them the past five games. There's no doubt in my mind that he will be moved if this continues to happen.
Paul Martin, Pittsburgh Penguins: People will wonder why I put him on this list but it actually may happen. The Penguins are in need of a top six winger to play with Crosby or Malkin because they are so decimated by injuries right now. That winger may have to cost them one of their best defenseman Paul Martin. A lot of people don't think he will me moved and I wouldn't think so either, but crazy trades happen in the NHL near the trade deadline.
Nail Yakupov, Edmonton Oilers: Another Oilers player appears and it isn't all that surprising because trade talk has surrounded this player too. Yakupov is one of the best young players in the NHL and can be a huge upgrade on any team's top six. Getting him will cost a ton as because his value is so high.
Nick Foligno, Columbus Blue Jackets: Columbus got off to a very poor start to the season because of injuries but Nick Foligno was not among the injured. He has been great for them this season as he is second on the team in points with 24 which is right behind Ryan Johansen for the team lead. Foligno will be a free agent after this season and his value will only go up as the season goes on. It will be interesting to see if Columbus will climb back up into the standings because if they don't, Foligno could very well find himself on another team near the end of the season.
