Analyzing Evgeni Malkin's New Potential Line Next Season

Evgeni Malkin is not going to be a happy man after what happened yesterday. The Penguins traded away his best friend and best linemate James Neal yesterday to the Nashville Predators for Patric Hornqvist and Nick Spaling. It also doesn't look like his other linemate Jussi Jokinen is coming back to the Penguins either since Jim Rutherford said last week that "it's time for him to go out and get his big contract." What could Malkin's wingers on his line look like next season? Let's take a look.

Left Wing- Nikolai Kulemin- This has a very good chance of happening and I think it will happen. Kulemin is very good friends with Evgeni Malkin since they are both Russian and Kulemin also eyes a top six role with a team. He feels he was misused in Toronto as he never really found his top game. He wants a four year deal worth around 16 million but I bet he would take less to play here since Malkin is here. I'm sure Kulemin will find his game here since he will be playing next to Malkin who made James Neal a 40 goal scorer. We'll see if Jim Rutherford pulls the trigger and signs him.

Right Wing- Patric Hornqvist- He was acquired in the trade last night along with Nick Spaling that sent James Neal to Nashville and I fully expect Hornqvist to be Malkin's new right win next season. This is a player who can score 30 goals a season which he did a few years back. He scored over 20 goals this season without a real good center too so imagine what Evgeni Malkin can do to Hornqvist's game. I'll have a more in depth article on the trade next week and my thoughts about it as well. If this is the second line for the Penguins next season, this has the opportunity to be one of the best in the NHL. Let's hope it is.
