Tuesday night is loaded with a big 11-game NHL schedule and it’s going to be a very exciting night for daily fantasy hockey! There are several teams in great spots to score well and that gives us some top targets for our cash game lineups. For tournament play, the possibilities are endless for the number of team stacks, line stacks, powerplay stacks, double-stacks, etc… strategies you could utilize. This is the type of night where building a lot of different tournament lineups can be a lot of fun, especially when one or more of those teams goes off for a big payday.

Top Teams to Target Tonight for Daily Fantasy Hockey

New York Islanders – The Islanders are the league’s top scoring team at home, and with a 21-8-0 home record. Meanwhile the Coyotes are among the bottom teams in many offensive and defensive categories, and they’ve lost six straight games (and outscored 23-8). Arizona also played last night in New Jersey, so there is that factor to consider. All signs point to this being a blowout for the Islanders, and you’ll want to get at least a couple of them in your cash game teams, and stack at least the top line in tournaments.

New York Rangers – The Rangers are the league’s top scoring teams this month and by a wide margin – 4.09 goals per game, and next best is 3.36. They are in a great position to score four or more again tonight with a home game against Calgary. The Flames have had a good season overall this year but they’ve not been strong defensively lately, giving up 19 goals in their past five games. With the Rangers scoring proficiently lately, many of their players have been hot, and for using them in daily fantasy, multiple combinations of a line stack or a powerplay unit stack could be used in tournaments. For cash game lineups, getting a couple from different lines is a good strategy.

TOP DEFENSEMEN PLAYS

Drew Doughty ($5,000) – The Kings have won seven straight games and have been getting scoring from many different forwards. The high scoring should continue tonight against a Red Wings team that gave up six goals on Saturday to Dallas and have backup goaltender Gustavsson in net this evening. Considering the balanced scoring up front, getting Doughty in your lineup is a great way to get exposure to the scoring as he plays half the game for the Kings, including heavy powerplay minutes.

TOP CENTER PLAYS

Ryan Johansen ($6,400) – The Center position is loaded tonight with a lot of options at various price points. I do think John Tavares is the number one play at Center tonight, but he’s an obvious play so I’ll highlight a couple others at the position as well. Johansen has had hot streaks at different times this year where he’s been unstoppable, and he’s also had several huge games this year that have been big for fantasy. Due to his inconsistency he’s not a strong play every night, but when the matchup is good he usually delivers. Tonight his matchup home to Buffalo is outstanding and Johansen could very well put up another of those monster games.

Derek Stepan ($5,800) – Stepan has been on fire lately with multiple point games in four of his past five, and he’s nearly up to a point per game pace on the season overall. He’s done all that very quietly it seems and his salary is still in the middle range. Stepan Centers the Rangers’ second line (with Martin St. Louis and Chris Kreider) but he moves up to play on the top powerplay unit (with Rick Nash), and has lots of opportunities to hit the scoresheet. We already know that the Rangers are one of the top teams to target tonight (see above, if you skipped that section), and Stepan could put up yet another multi-point game.
