A six game schedule hits the ice on Monday, with several games having big implications in the playoff races. This is especially true out west where the Kings, Canucks and Flames are all in action, and are separated by just three points. The two late games feature teams that are out of the playoffs, but they both could be high scoring - the Colorado/Edmonton and Buffalo/Arizona games are both rematches from last week where the games both ended 4-3. In the Eastern conference, two powerhouses face off in Montréal with the Canadiens hosting the Lightning.
For daily fantasy hockey tonight, there are a lot of teams to target for goal scoring which makes it a good night to play in tournaments
We’ll break things down in this article today with the top teams to target and recommended players to use to build winning FanDuel lineups, Included also are a few sample FanDuel lineups.
Top Team to Target Tonight for Daily Fantasy Hockey
Colorado Avalanche – The Avalanche have been among the top scoring teams lately (fourth for goals in March), including nine goals in their past couple games. Colorado faces Edmonton for the second time in a week after the Oilers won 4-3 last Wednesday. Both of their top lines have been scoring and are good stacks for tournament play. Defenseman Tyson Barrie should also be included in the stack, and he is a great play for cash game lineups as well.
Recommended Players for FanDuel
TOP GOALTENDER PLAYS
Mike Smith ($8,100) – Smith is the top goaltending option for tournaments, and he could even be considered for cash game lineups as an alternative to Price. And yes, this might be the one and only time that Smith is recommended this year. A home game against Buffalo is an ideal situation for any goaltender, and Smith has actually been playing better lately, averaging nearly 6 FanDuel points per game over his last six. The Coyotes give up a lot of shots (most in the league in March) which helps Smith to be a consistent fantasy performer, even when he gives up a few goals.
TOP DEFENSEMEN PLAYS
Oliver Ekman-Larsson ($6,300) – Ekman-Larsson is the top defenseman tonight and might be the top player across the board. He leads all defensemen in goals with 21 and is second in shots on goal with 244. Arizona should score a few goals against Buffalo and multiple forward lines could hit the scoresheet. The common thread with their scoring is Ekman-Larsson who plays nearly half the game, gets most of the power play time and has major offensive upside. Against the Sabres last Thursday he had a goal and an assist, and another multi-point game against them tonight is very possible.
TOP CENTER PLAYS
Ryan O’Reilly ($6,000) – The Avalanche line of O’Reilly, Gabriel Landeskog and Alex Tanguay has been one of the most productive groups in the past month, and O’Reilly specifically has a seven game point streak going. He also has four multi-point games in that stretch, 12 points in total and 39 FanDuel points (5.6 per game). In last week’s match-up with Edmonton, O’Reilly had a monster game with a goal, two assists and six shots. While it would be tough to duplicate that, a point or two in this game could very well happen.
TOP RIGHT WINGER PLAYS
Patrick Eaves ($3,300) – Putting Eaves into your lineup is a great way to get exposure to the Stars’ top line but at a fraction of the price of Benn and Seguin. Although Eaves isn’t as consistent or as dynamic as his superstar linemates, he does have good chemistry with that pair and has multi-point upside (including three times in his past eight games). At near minimum price, Eaves makes a great VALUE play against Calgary on Monday night.
