Left Wing
Stud - Matt Beleskey ($5,300): Beleskey has been pretty solid so far this season, and his Ducks are playing at home against the lowly Buffalo Sabres. $5,300 is an absolute bargain for a player like him against a team that surrenders plenty of goals.
Scrub - James Van Riemsdyk ($7,300): Van Riemsdyk's Maple Leafs, who have struggled offensively thus far (other than last night), are playing an Ottawa Senators team that has been unexpectedly solid. The Leafs are also going to be tired after games in different cities on back-to-back nights. He's a good player, but he is not worth $7,300 tonight.
Right Wing
Stud - Wayne Simmonds ($8,000): The "Wayne Train" has been rolling this year with five goals and two assists in his first five games. He and teammate Jakub Voracek love playing against rivals like the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Scrub - Evgeni Malkin ($10,200): Malkin is one of the best players in the game, but his Penguins always have issues with the Flyers. $10,200 is too high of a tab for him tonight.
Center
Stud - Ryan Kesler ($5,700): You read that right - only $5,700 for Kesler, who some still consider to be a "star" player. And he's playing Buffalo? Bargain of the day right here.
Scrub - Kyle Turris ($6,000): You're going to pay $300 more for Turris against Toronto than for Kesler against Buffalo? Come on.
Defense
Stud - Mike Green ($4,600): One of the NHL's best offensive defenseman is only $4,600. He is playing against the defensively-challenged Edmonton Oilers. You definitely need him in your lineup.
Scrub - Matt Niskanen ($5,400): Green's teammate, who is slightly worse offensively, costs $800 more. Niskanen vs. Edmonton is a nice matchup, but Green is the better choice.
Goaltender
Stud - Frederik Andersen ($9,700): There are only four games tonight, meaning eight starting goalies. It doesn't matter if Andersen is expensive, he is clearly the best option available against Buffalo.
Scrub - Jonathan Bernier ($8,800): Bernier started last night on the Island. This means Reimer will probably start tonight. Don't make the mistake of paying $8,800 who will likely spend the game on the bench.
