Left Wing
Stud - Gabriel Landeskog ($6,300): Although Landeskog's Avalanche will face off with a good New York Islanders team, the Isles have not been particularly well at keeping the puck out of their own net. Landeskog and the high-powered Colorado offense should get on the board quite often tonight.
Scrub - Chris Kunitz ($8,000): Kunitz may be playing with some of the world's best players, but he is not Sidney Crosby or Evgeni Malkin. Don't pay $8,000 for him, especially since he will be playing a Los Angeles Kings team that has a team goals against average of just 1.67 this season.
Right Wing
Stud - Steven Stamkos ($9,500): It doesn't matter how much Stamkos costs, he is an otherworldly talent and excels against weak defenses like Philadelphia's. This is a classic example of "you get what you pay for".
Scrub - Joe Pavelski ($8,400): If you are already willing to pay $8,400 for Pavelski against a great Minnesota Wild defense, spend the extra $1,100 bucks for Stamkos. Pavelski is a good player, but the matchup against Minnesota does not bode well for his Sharks.
Center
Stud - Tomas Plekanec ($5,300): Plekanec is one of the best players on a good Montreal Canadiens team, and he should have a good night against an average Vancouver Canucks club. $5,300 is a definite bargain, so pick up Plekanec and thank me later.
Scrub - Kyle Turris ($6,000): Truthfully, Plekanec would be a better option at center than Turris even if money wasn't an object. He is playing against the NHL's best team at preventing goals: the Chicago Blackhawks. The fact that Turris actually costs more than Plekanec makes it even more ridiculous of an idea to add him.
Defense
Stud - Ryan Suter ($4,900): Suter is one of the best defensemen in the NHL and plays for one of the league's best teams. He will likely have a good plus-minus tonight due to his stellar play on the blueline and his team's ability to prevent goals.
Scrub - Brent Burns ($7,000): Why would you spend $7,000 on Burns (playing against Suter's Minnesota Wild, nonetheless) when you can spend less on guys like Suter, P.K. Subban and Drew Doughty, among others?
Goaltender
Stud - Tuukka Rask ($10,000): If you are going to fork over five figures for anyone, make it Rask. He is facing the Buffalo Sabres. Need I say more?
Scrub - Craig Anderson ($9,600): Why is Anderson, who is playing against the Chicago Blackhawks, only $400 less than Rask against the Sabres? It makes absolutely no sense.
