Early NHL Preseason Favorites in Realigned Divisions

There are new NHL divisions this year. In this article, I will say who is the favorite in each division going into next season.

Division A has some of the best Western Conference teams. You have Anaheim, Los Angeles, San Jose, and Vancouver. These four teams made the playoffs the last season. You also have teams that are on the rise such as Edmonton, Calgary, and Phoneix. If I had to pick a favorite it would be the Los Angeles Kings for a couple reasons. Their goaltending is magnificent. Jonathan Quick is one of the best goaltenders in the league and they have a great offense too. They can score with Richards, Carter, Kopitar, and Brown. I truly believe the Kings will win this division.

Division B is also in the Western Conference. This division isn't the best. You have Chicago, who is the Stanley Cup Champions, and you also have Minnesota, who went to the playoffs. This is no doubt Chicago's division to win even though there is also St Louis in it. Expect Chicago to run away with this division.

Division C starts the Eastern Conference. This division is stacked! You have Detroit coming over to the East. You also have Boston, Ottawa, Montreal, and Toronto. This division is so wide open after these teams got a lot in free agency already. If I had to pick a division winner, I would pick the Detroit Red Wings. They acquired Daniel Alfredsson in free agency and now they can put Datsyuk and Zetterburg on the same line. I don't think these other teams can contend with Detroit.

Division D is the last division. You have Pittsburgh, Washington, Philadelphia, New York, New York, Carolina, Columbus, and New Jersey. This division isn't stacked as the other one. You have five playoff teams that made the playoffs last season. If I had a early favorite, I would take Pittsburgh. They got two of the best players in the world and they got Scuderi back in free agency. I expect Pittsburgh to run away with this division. We will see what happens!
