Fantasy Hockey 2013: Draft Do-Over at Center

Seldom in life are we granted the opportunity for a “do over”. Though we live in a world that seems to be littered with people who make the most of their own second chances, the fantasy world doesn’t grant us the same luxury.

We are stuck with the players we drafted, and for some of us that just sucks. All is not lost just yet. There are trades that can be made, and in any 10 to 12 team league there should still be an abundance of talent available to make you respectable.

That being said, if your goalie situation isn’t set, you might be screwed.

At eDraft we DO have the power for the draft do over and we are going to share it with you right now. There won’t be too many surprises here because the best of the best actually are performing.

5. Evgeni Malkin, Pittsburgh Penguins

He was my pick for number one and now he’s at number five. It’s hard to be mad at Geno Malkin for not kicking the crap out of the NHL, but I expect his stock will rise before the year ends.

4. Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh Penguins

A strong showing against nemesis Washington this past weekend reminded us that Crosby might still be the best in the league. A slow start by the Penguins could just be some chemistry adjustments and Crosby’s best may be yet to come.

3. Cory Conacher, Tampa Bay Lightning

It may be too early to anoint him as the “Next One” in Tampa, but Conacher keeps producing. Having stars all around him like Stamkos, Vincent Lecavalier and Martin St. Louis certainly helps with the productivity levels.

2. Joe Thornton, San Jose

A fast start by the Sharks saw Jumbo Joe circling at the center of the Sharks’ feeding frenzy. He seems to get better with age defying the skeptics (like yours truly) who deem him past his prime.

1. Steven Stamkos, Tampa Bay Lightning

Stamkos has benefitted from a Tampa Bay team that believes it can win every game. He has been well supported by his teammates and appears poised to wrestle the title of “Best Player on Earth” away from one of the Pittsburgh icons.
