At 23-years-young, Jamie Benn has already played in his first All Star Game and just finished posting his third straight 20-goal season. By setting highs in goals, assists and points for the third straight year to start his career Benn, seems poised to take the Dallas Stars back to relevance in the NHL.

The young Dallas center has impressed teammates and opponents alike with his aggressive play on and off the puck. With no shortage of energy at both ends of the ice Benn is turning into a the complete player that Dallas needs to get back to the playoffs.

This summer the Stars spent a small fortune adding talented but expiring veterans that are designed to help the team win now. Jaromir Jagr and Ray Whitney join Star standouts Loui Eriksson, Brendan Morrow, Derek Roy (via trade) and goalie Keri Lehtonen. The Stars just missed out on the playoffs last year, and seemed like they are now built to make some noise in the super competitive Pacific division.

Jamie Benn is currently throwing his weight around in the German League playing for the Hamburg Freezers. He is known to his adopted locker room and fan base as “Big Benn” and seems like he is picking up where he left off last season. Through 11 games with his German club Benn has picked up six goals and six assists.

Look for another spike in the Dallas center’s stats again this season. With more offensive fire-power Benn will benefit from the attention that the other offensive weapons will command. Another All Star appearance could be in the cards for the rising Dallas star.

As a fantasy option Jamie Benn is no-brainer for the second or third round. Offensively and defensively, Benn is on track to be a stat machine. As he goes, so go the fortunes of his team. Expect big things from both this year.
