Fantasy Hockey: Top Performers of the Week

We're already halfway through the season...where does the time go?

There are a few players really hitting their stride here at the halfway mark. Let's take a look at some of the hottest players over the past week.

Rick Nash, LW, New York Rangers

After a minor injury, Nash is finally getting on the board for the Blueshirts. In the past week, he has tallied four goals and two assists, including two points in each of the last four games - all wins for New York. If Nash keeps performing at this level, expect the Rangers to keep playing great hockey and be considered a Cup favorite come playoff time.

Chris Kunitz, LW, Pittsburgh Penguins

Kunitz has been scoring points left and right, normally playing on the same line as Sidney Crosby and Pascal Dupuis. In the past week, Kunitz has scored five goals and has two helpers. Despite the Penguins' dismal efforts to keep the puck out of their own net, Kunitz has a plus-6 plus/minus rating over the past week.

Jimmy Howard, G, Detroit Red Wings

Howard has given up only two goals in the past three games for his Red Wings. Detroit's defense has showed great improvement since the return of Brendan Smith, and Howard's numbers have benefitted from it. He was stellar in a shootout loss to those unbeatable Blackhawks on Sunday, created his own highlight montage of saves against Colorado on Tuesday, and put up a shutout against a high-octane Edmonton team on Thursday.

Sergei Bobrovsky, G, Columbus Blue Jackets

Finally a ray of light for the Jackets, who are only four points out of a playoff spot in the air-tight Western Conference. Sergei Bobrovsky already has three wins this week and a 0.70 Goals-Against Average to go along with it. How are those for positive numbers, Columbus?
