The NHL trade deadline is now less then a week away and talks are heating up as teams try to get deals done. Here are some NHL trade rumors for some of the biggest names on the market.
Jaromir Jagr, New Jersey Devils: We start here with Jaromir Jagr and there's no doubt he's going to be traded. Although he hasn't said he wants out, he has said that there's no reason to keep him in NJ. He has said that he wants to go to an Eastern Conference contender, and I'm sure he will get his wish and go to one.
Joffrey Lupul, Toronto Maple Leafs: Lupul is a name that is new to the trade market and it isn't surprising that the Maple Leafs may trade him because it's just a fire sale in Toronto. Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet went on air and said that the Pittsburgh Penguins, Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadians are interested. I doubt the Penguins would get him but I can see the Bruins getting him since they will be without David Krejci for 4-6 weeks.
James Wisniewski, Columbus Blue Jackets: Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reported that the Jackets are shopping Wisniewski around the league to see if anyone will trade for him by Monday's deadline. It doesn't make muc sense that Columbus will want to trade their best defensman before someone like Jack Johnson. It will be interesting to see who will be interested in Wisniewski as we get closer to the deadline.
Jeff Petry, Edmonton Oilers: Petry has a lot of interest on the trade market and will most likely be gone before the deadline as the Oilers are still trying to rebuild. He's just coming back from a ribs injury he suffered a few days ago so if he starts to play well again, it will only increase his value up until the deadline.
Jordan Staal, Carolina Hurricanes: A very interesting report came out of Pittsburgh this past weekend where Josh Yohe of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported that the Penguins are interested in reacquiring Staal. He reported that the Penguins were looking into what it would take to get him before the deadline and during the summer. Hurricanes GM Ron Francis dismissed the report saying that he won't trade him(what else is he supposed to say?). If this does become serious, I wouldn't expect it to until the summer.
Chris Stewart, Buffalo Sabres: Stewart has been on the trade market awhile now and the team that has the most interest in him is the Boston Bruins. They're most likely going to get him by the deadline since they've had interest in him for weeks now and I won't be surprised if talks start to heat up again in the next day or two.
Antoine Vermette, Arizona Coyotes: The Coyotes aren't going to make the playoffs so they also may have a fire sale which could include trading one of their best players. A lot of teams are interested in Vermette and talks should really heat up for him as we get closer to the deadline.
