The Washington Capitals recently hired Barry Trotz and he is Alex Ovechkin's fifth coach in 10 years. The Capitals have been underperforming for the past few seasons under coaches Dale Hunter and Adam Oates which led to them being fired and former GM George McPhee. How can Barry Trotz and Ovechkin start to get along? Let's see.

Let Him Score- Alex Ovechkin is a proven goal scorer and has won the Rocket Richard trophy each of the past two seasons  for the most goals in the league. If you're Barry Trotz, you can't take that away from him. You just have to let him play his game and get goals for this team to win. If he can stay healthy next season, he probably will win another Rocket Richard Trophy since he scores a ton of goals. 

Make Him Play Defense- Ovechkin isn't known to play a lot of defense on the Capitals but he's going to need to next season under Barry Trotz who is a defensive minded coach. If Ovechkin wants to develop into a two way player, the best way to try and develop is under a coach who can really make you become one and that's Barry Trotz. We'll see if Barry Trotz can get him to play more defense this season and help him develop into a two way player. This could be the make or break year for Alex Ovechkin this year. There was speculation a few months ago that he might not even be around with the Capitals after this coming season in Washington. This is his chance to prove that he's still one of the best goal scorers in the world.
