Most Disappointing Players in the 2013 Stanley Cup Final

Most Disappointing Players in the 2013 Stanley Cup Final

Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks have been two of the most disappointing players throughout this entire postseason, but they may have saved their reputations after both recording goals in Game Four on Wednesday night.
Other than the two Chicago superstars, a few other notable players in this series have failed to come through in the clutch for their respective teams. Here's a look at a few players whose underachieving could have hindered their teams thus far.

Bryan Bickell - Chicago Blackhawks

Bickell was a Conn Smythe favorite heading into the Final, coming up huge in Chicago's previous three series. A lot of his production likely came from head coach Joel Quenneville's decision to move him to the top line next to Toews and Kane.
Suddenly, Bickell went quiet against the Bruins. He had not recorded a point through three games, and it seems as if the only time his name has been mentioned in this series was when he and Zdeno Chara were involved in a scrum in the waning seconds of Game Three.

Bickell was credited with two assists and a plus-three in Game Four, but he still does not look like the same Bickell that was such a dominant performer in the first three rounds of the playoffs.

Brad Marchand - Boston Bruins

Marchand had a huge impact in the 2011 Stanley Cup Final against the Vancouver Canucks, but he has not had that same kind of success this time around.
Like Bickell, Marchand has not recorded a single point in the series through three games, and the only time his name has been mentioned in a significant moment was during his scrum with Chicago's Andrew Shaw...again in the waning seconds of Game Three.
Marchand's struggles just got even worse in Game Four. He again failed to score a point and ended up with a minus-three rating.

Duncan Keith - Chicago Blackhawks

Keith got his first point of the series with an assist in Game Four, and was also a plus-three player on the night. However, Keith is the Blackhawks' number one defenseman, and he has not put up the numbers that he is expected to.
The Hawks finally got a powerplay goal in Game Four, but if they want to see their play with the man advantage continue to improve, Keith needs to step up his offensive game.

David Krejci - Boston Bruins

David Krejci came into the series as the favorite to win the Conn Smythe Trophy for the Most Valuable Player of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. He was the league's leading scorer throughout the first three rounds, potting nine goals and adding twelve assists.
Krejci added two helpers in the first game of the series, but was held to nothing more than one shot in each of the next two contests.
He got another assist in Game Four and finished with a plus-one rating, but he was passed up by Patrick Sharp of the Blackhawks as the leading goal-scorer in the postseason. Krejci only took two shots in Game Four.

He has not had an awful series, but as a Conn Smythe candidate, Krejci needs to do more than take four shots total in three games.
