NHL: Three Stars of the Week

This NHL season has been extremely fast, and with so many games in such a short time; players rise and fall faster than ever. The week has started with the Blackhawks still on their slide down and the Blue Jackets rocketing to the top, and by the end of the week the unstoppable Blackhawks could fall out of first place in the Western Conference. This week is only half over, and there are already some fantasy stars that should be noticed before their time is up.

3.  Evander Kane, Left Wing, Winnipeg Jets

Kane is a powerful forward with physical gifts that could make him one of the best in the league. This week Kane has two goals so far for the Jets, but has also put up 17 shots in just two games. Kane should put up more points for how talented he is, but those huge shot numbers make him fantasy gold, at least for now.

2.  Corey Perry, Right Wing, Anaheim Ducks

Yes, Perry might have gotten ejected early in his last game for a dirty hit and could very well be suspended by the time you are reading this, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t put up some good stats. In his possibly very-short week, he has already put up two goals, but also has another stat that is very unusual for any player:  Perry has a total of 17 PIM’s in just two games. Yes, the hit he had was pretty dirty, but the fact is that he pretty much locked up the PIM category is great for any Perry owner.

1.  Sam Gagner, Center, Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers are a team that has been breaking the hearts of it's fans for several years now, but Gagner has at least shown some promise. The young Oiler has put up three goals and one assist over his last two games. The Oilers are still behind in the standings, but they were able to take down the Blackhawks and then shutout the streak-ending Avalanche. Gagner can be a great scorer like he has been this week, but so far his career has been very streaky.
