Under the Radar: Anders Lindback

Under the Radar: Anders Lindback

It’s hard to think that the 6’6” Anders Lindback could hide behind someone, but he has been able to get lost behind the 6’5” Pekka Rinne for the past few seasons. This season Lindback was acquired by the Tampa Bay Lightning, and is finally going to get his chance to shine.

Most NHL fans don’t know a lot about Lindback because he hasn’t been around for that long, and has spent his limited time in the NHL as a backup.

Anders Lindback is only 24 years-old, so it is possible that when he first gets the starting job all to himself in Tampa that he has some growing pains, but he should grow out of them quickly.

The Lightning is a strong team in the Eastern Conference, but they have had one major flaw that has kept them from playoff success. Getting Lindback should be the move that fills the hole in net and allows Tampa to have the success that their offense should have.

Lindback might be young, but signs point to him having what it takes. He is a large goaltender, he has the same physical build of Pekka Rinne which means there is very little net to shoot at. Another good thing for Lindback is that he is Swedish. Some people might think that the Swedish are a mild tempered people who are very passive, but Henrik Lundqvist has been proving that Swedish goaltenders are top notch.

With a new fantasy hockey season possibly on its way, savvy owners should pay close attention to Anders Lindback. Most fantasy players will stay away from him because they aren’t familiar with him and think that he isn’t special. Lindback will be a top level goaltender for a strong Tampa team and can easily be picked up as a late round steal.
