1.Steve Mason, Philadelphia Flyers
He made himself an easy choice for this list after his abomination of a goal let in from a player trying to dump the puck from center ice. His play never improved from there, as he was letting in four GPG before Flyers head coach Dave Hakstol put him out of his misery and sentenced him to the bench for the rest of the playoffs. What is even worse for Mason, is that Michal Neuvirth has forced himself back into the Flyers franchise goaltender discussion thanks to a heroic 44 shot shutout in game five to keep the series going. Mason must still be hoping that this is all a nightmare and he will wake up soon.
2.Jonathan Quick, Los Angeles Kings
It’s unfair to put the blame of the Kings early exit entirely on Quick, but the star goaltender was certainly far from his best. He let in over three GPG, and his 88.6 SV% is sub par at best. With an offense that was struggling, they could have really used a massive Quick shutout to try to turn momentum in their favor. Quick, however, was unable to carry the team this year.
3.Eric Staal, New York Rangers
Staal seemed like the perfect fit for the Rangers. The big forward was physical and a great passer, things that the Rangers look for in their forwards. However, Staal has been unproductive so far with the Rangers. The guy got not points in the entirety of the first round. He was also had a painful -6 +/- which is among the worst in the NHL playoffs. They only played him 15 MPG, not because they wanted to, but because he was just too bad to leave on the ice.
4.Tyler Toffoli, Los Angeles Kings
After a breakout year where Toffoli scored 31 goals, people were expecting plenty of goals in the playoffs from him. In the end, we got nothing. Toffoli was held without a goal as the Kings fell to the Sharks. His -5 +/- was just adding insult to injury for the 23 year old that was expecting a lot from these playoffs.
5.Brad Richards, Detroit Red Wings
Although not that much was expected from the aging Richards, its still amazing that the former Stanley Cup champion got a mere point and seven penalty minutes this year in the playoffs. His -4 +/- was the worst on a Red Wings team that never really had a chance against the Lightning
