The season ending ATP World Tour Finals have seen each player in the event contest two matches with Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer leading the way in wins. Djokovic is currently 2-0 and he sits on top of Group A while Federer is also 2-0 and sits on top of Group B. Of the two players, Federer is the only one who has not yet dropped a set.

Round robin play for Group A will conclude on Friday. In the afternoon session, Djokovic will face Tomas Berdych while the evening session will feature a match between Andy Murray and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. Murray and Berdych are each 1-1 while Tsonga is at the bottom of Group A with an 0-2 record. The qualifying scenarios are complicated but there are a couple clear cut certainties:

"1) Regardless of score, if N. DJOKOVIC defeats T. BERDYCH and A. MURRAY defeats J. TSONGA, then N. DJOKOVIC wins the group and A. MURRAY qualifies 2nd.

2) Regardless of score, if T. BERDYCH defeats N. DJOKOVIC and J. TSONGA defeats A. MURRAY, then T. BERDYCH wins the group and N. DJOKOVIC qualifies 2nd." (Source: ATPWorldTour.com)

Djokovic has a huge edge heading into the third match of round robin play. Not only is he 2-0 but he has a favorable match-up against Berdych. The World No. 1 has defeated the Czech player in 10 of their 11 head-to-head meetings with the one loss taking place at Wimbledon in 2010, a time when Berdych was playing his best tennis to date.

Murray appears to be in the driver's seat as well heading into his final match. He is 1-1 with a loss to Djokovic but the Scot has only lost to Tsonga one time in their head-to-head history and that was at the 2008 Australian Open when the Frenchman was on top of his game.

Group B matches will conclude on Saturday and they will feature a blockbuster match-up between Roger Federer and Juan Martin del Potro. Delpo has gotten the short end of the stick in most of their meetings but the Argentine defeated Federer in their most recent head-to-head match, one that came at ATP Basel just weeks ago. In the other Group B match to be played David Ferrer will look to maintain his momentum as he faces Janko Tipsarevic. Tipsy has not had a good tournament so far while Ferrer is 1-1 and fresh off of his maiden Masters Series title.

The Group B scenarios are also complicated but there are certainly some scenarios that are more probable than others:

"1) Regardless of score, if R. FEDERER defeats J. DEL POTRO and D. FERRER defeats J. TIPSAREVIC, then R. FEDERER wins the group and D. FERRER qualifies 2nd.

2) Regardless of score, if R. FEDERER defeats J. DEL POTRO and J. TIPSAREVIC defeats D. FERRER, then R. FEDERER wins the group and J. DEL POTRO qualifies 2nd." (source: same link as above)

Tennis fans will mainly be expecting Federer and Ferrer to advance from Group B with Djokovic and Murray expected to advance from Group A. The tournament will conclude the 2012 season with action to pick up again in January during the South Pacific swing.
