Kiner-Falefa helps Rangers rally past Mariners

Isiah Kiner-Falefa singled with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the ninth inning as Texas rallied to defeat the Seattle Mariners 3-2 on Saturday in Arlington, Texas, on a night when the Rangers retired Michael Young's No. 10 jersey.

The Rangers scored twice in the ninth off Mariners closer Matt Magill (4-2). Elvis Andrus led off with a double to center field and advanced to third on Willie Calhoun's groundout. Andrus scored the tying run by beating the throw home on Nick Solak's grounder to shortstop Dylan Moore.

Rougned Odor hit an infield single to second baseman Dee Gordon, and the runners moved to second and third when the ball trickled into shallow right field. After an intentional walk to Danny Santana to load the bases, Kiner-Falefa lined a 1-0 pitch into center field to bring home the winning run.

Rangers right-hander Emmanuel Clase (2-2) got the victory with two-thirds of an inning of scoreless relief. He picked off Moore off third base to end the top of the ninth.

Seattle took a 1-0 lead in the second as Moore doubled to left field with two outs and Gordon followed by grounding a run-scoring single into right.

The Rangers tied the score at 1-1 in the third as Jose Trevino hit a one-out double to left and, an out later, Andrus hit a run-scoring double to center.

The Mariners broke a 1-1 tie with two outs in the top of the sixth inning. Tom Murphy doubled to left field and Daniel Vogelbach followed with a line-drive single up the middle to score the go-ahead run.

Rookie Rangers left-hander Brock Burke pitched well for the third consecutive start since being called up Aug. 20, but again failed to register his first victory. Burke allowed two runs on seven hits in six innings, with one walk and two strikeouts. Burke has allowed three runs thus far for an ERA of 1.50.

Mariners veteran left-hander Tommy Milone went five innings, allowing one run on three hits, with one walk and four strikeouts.
