Hawks 116, Nets 101
Josh Smith scored a season-high 34 points and Jamal Crawford added 26, leading the Atlanta Hawks to a 116-101 road victory over the New Jersey Nets on Tuesday night, their seventh win in eight games.
Smith made 14-of-16 from the field in falling four points shy of his career high.
Brook Lopez scored 24 points, Devin Harris added 18 and Jordan Farmar 16 for the Nets (6-16), who have lost five in a row and have the worst record in the Eastern Conference. They are 2-11 on the road.
Playing their fourth game in five nights, the Hawks (15-8) started slowly but finished the first half on a 29-9 run to erase a seven-point deficit and open a 60-47 lead. The margin reached 16 points in the third quarter.
New Jersey closed the gap to 102-97 late in the fourth quarter, but three baskets by Al Horford, who scored 24 points, and two by Crawford ended any comeback hopes.
