Bobcats 100, 76ers 97

Backup guard Gerald Henderson hit three key baskets in the final two minutes and D.J. Augustin scored a career-high 31 points to spark the Charlotte Bobcats to a 100-97 victory over the visiting Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday.

Philadelphia led 91-90 late before Henderson scored six straight points to give the Bobcats a 96-93 lead. Augustin followed with four consecutive free throws as Charlotte (17-24) avenged Monday’s overtime loss to the 76ers.

Thaddeus Young scored 21 points for Philadelphia (17-25), which went ahead 91-90 on Young’s basket before Henderson responded.

Augustin also had eight assists to go with his career-best scoring game. He was 10-for-11 from the field for 25 points in the first half and finished 11 for 17 overall. Nazr Mohammed scored 15 points and Stephen Jackson added 14 for the Bobcats.

Andre Iguodala scored 19 points for the 76ers but missed a free throw that would have tied the score with 40.9 seconds left. Jrue Holiday finished with 13 points and seven assists in the losing effort.

Charlotte learned before the game that forward Tyrus Thomas will be sidelined for up to two months with cartilage damage in his left knee.
